Hampton Inn Chicago Downtown/Magnificent Mile

Great stay, but pool is still unavailable.

We got a bus one block away that took us to Obama Presidential Center, Griffin Museum of Science and Industry and the Field Museum. We also chose to walk 12 miles in 3 days to see everything else!

Great location for appts at Northwestern Hospital. This is like a 2nd home to us and we are always grateful for the hospitality.

My family and I booked the property while on vacation in Chicago. While the property’s location is great we were disappointed by a few things. There was no mention of a deposit until check in; the first room that we were checked into had no AC . After being reassigned to a second room the mini fridge was not working. The hotel lists a pool as an amenity however we discovered that the pool was bone dry during our visit.You only have the option to valet park but be prepared for a 29-30 minute wait for your vehicle. There are 40 floors in the hotel and 3 elevators which caused pure chaos during breakfast and checkout times. The hotel is not horrible but there is a need for major improvements.

Horrible customer service. Cancelled my room on me and didn’t bother to call or send an email. Didn’t know til i arrived at the hotel. I’ll leave it at that

We valeted so the parking was nice as they took and parked our car and when we checked out, they went and brought it back. Front desk staff were friendly, especially Darnell, Joey and one of the ladies up front. Beds were comfortable and views were nice.

Great location, old hotel, not the cleanest

Unfortunately, everything else was disappointing. The hotel felt old, run-down, and not as clean or well-maintained as we expected. Our room was much smaller than it appeared in the photos, making it feel cramped. The biggest letdown was that the pool was closed. We specifically chose this hotel because it had a pool, and there was no clear notice before our arrival that it wouldn’t be available. Had we known, we would have booked somewhere else.

This hotel's advertising is misleading. The pool doesn't exist as shown in the photos, and the services this hotel offers... Upon arrival and check-in, I waited an hour at reception because they couldn't find my reservation, which I had made in advance. My family and I were exhausted after an eight-hour international flight and frustrated by the long wait in 85 degree heat. The air conditioning in the room wasn't working properly; it was 85 degrees outside, and the room was just as hot and stifling. I called reception, and they assured me they had adjusted it to the correct temperature, which wasn't true because the room was unbearably hot. Furthermore, some hooks at the bottom of the bed were loose and poorly secured, a safety hazard that caused me to bump my ankles every time I walked past them resulting in bruises.

Breakfast was good and the staff were very friendly. The a/c in our room never turned off and the temp never got below 78 degrees and the mini fridge wasn't very cold either.

This property is a little rough around the edges …some of the carpeting (elevators in particular) is stained and really terrible looking. The lobby is literally 1 desk to check in and a small(but useful) mini convenience “store”. Our room seemed clean but rundown in the bathroom. Pillows are TERRIBLE. TERRIBLE! 4 on the bed and even using all 4 together gave no support. TERRIBLE! At times there was nobody to answer the easiest of questions …where is the easiest place to grab a taxi? We asked a woman at the valet desk who responded like we were speaking Martian. She was so confused and put out by the question…So bizarre. Good location for Michigan Ave shopping and walking to the River Walk and the rest of the staff we interacted with were really nice. Not a terrible stay but I’ll look elsewhere for future visits.
