Homewood Suites by Hilton Chicago Downtown/Magnificent Mile

Tidy hotel room but I found a cockroach in the washroom the day I was checking out.

Our room was a downgrade. We were located next to a staff maintenance room that was loud. Our air conditioning didn’t work.

Great location, but the hotel overall need maintenance. Breakfast is included, but pretty basic though. Staff is friendly

The hotel is in a great location. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. A kitchenette and cooking equipment were provided. The air conditioning works well. Rooms are cleaned regularly. We had an iron, an ironing board, and a walk-in closet. You can leave your luggage after checking out. Keep in mind the incidental charge, which is held on your card. Breakfast was fine. There is a rather long wait for the elevators, especially during breakfast.

Staff was pleasant, and the location was great. But the hotel was outdated and not well maintained. Our first room, someone had to come 3 times to fix the air conditioner, after the 3rd time we had to switch rooms, which is always annoying. Plus, the handle had to pushed up, now down for the door to open. Also, I’m a gym person, and there gym was poor. Only had dumbbells up to 45 pounds, no treadmill. Breakfast was ok at best.

Our room was sold to someone else despite calling the property to confirm our 7 night stay and advise them we would be arriving in the early morning. The pool is being renovated which there is no mention of on the property website or Expedia. Cleaning is done at a minimum, we found lots of items left behind like old food under the sofa, and right under the table, a vape near the bed. There was a lot of accumulated dust on the bathroom floor not just the corners. The kitchen isn't even useful because it didn't have any pots or pans, just mini containers to store food. Our air conditioner didn't work, we were given a box fan.

The entire experience was okay.

It's centrally located, with great views of the city from the rooms, and has a polite and helpful staff. The rooms are clean and spacious, and the free breakfast buffet was the icing on the cake. for me. I will be returning.

This is a mixed property, Homewood Suites and Hampton Inn. It’s a large high rise with hundreds of rooms and 40-floors. It’s about a 5 minute walk to the Chicago red line stop. At the time we were here, Homewood lounge was under Reno’s so had to deal with Hampton clients and lines. Very busy and long lines at check in due for limited front desk staff and kiosks. Very busy and long wait/packed elevators at breakfast times. It was a very busy weekend with a number of events in the city so perhaps it was busier than usual.

Terrific place to stay. Amazing staff were so helpful. The gal at the Valet Desk was literally running to get our vehicle - she and the valet staff were all amazing. Great area- so close to everything: Michigan Ave; Riverwalk, Navy Pier, great restaurants and bars, amazing shopping.

Location Elevator waiting time is long and it’s crowded

The hotel itself was good not great - a little dated. The staff for the most part was very helpful and friendly, but there were a few instances where they seemed annoyed at a couple of basic requests. Our air conditioner wasn’t working correctly the first 24 hours, but after two attempts, they fixed it. After that, it was as cool as we wanted it. The shower, while very good, drained slowly. However, the closet was huge, even a walk-in closet to be honest. The view was spectacular, but we were on 33rd floor so that had something to do with it. The continental breakfast was really good, with plenty of variety and lots and lots of seating area. One of the attendance there was especially friendly and I always look forward to seeing him in the mornings. We arrived a few hours before check-in, and they offer a complementary bag hold. That was very convenient so we could walk around the city and check things out before check in. The bed and pillows were not very comfortable at all to be honest. That said, the amenities were very good. There is no streaming service on the TVs, so if you want to stream video, you will need to do it from your own device. All in all, I give this hotel a very good rating. I would definitely stay here again if the opportunity came up.

Location Very horrible experience. My mom had her first chemotherapy treatment, and she wanted to stay here because we stayed here for my birthday last year and had an amazing experience. She wanted to book the same hotel again so she could rest comfortably after her chemo. Unfortunately, we didn’t even get the room that we originally booked. We ended up switching between four different rooms because the HVAC wasn’t working in the room we were supposed to have. They even had us bring all of our luggage downstairs because they promised us another room by the time we got back from the hospital. When we returned, they suddenly told us there weren’t any rooms available and said they would call us between 6–7 p.m. They never called. I had to call them myself for an update, and they still said there were no rooms available. At that point, we decided to just settle for the suite that I had originally booked, but it was way too hot, so we had to move back to our original room. Imagine having to lug all your luggage up and down multiple times, especially after someone just finished chemotherapy. Even the elevator situation made everything more frustrating. We couldn’t get ahold of the manager, so one of the front desk employees spoke with Booking.com and told them we would be receiving a full refund, but that we still needed to speak with the manager. When we checked out, we waited for him to arrive. We explained everything that happened, and he listened and told us he would contact Booking.com to approve any refund they requested. A week passed and we never heard anything. Booking.com told us they had tried contacting the property several times but couldn’t get a response. We finally decided to stop by the hotel ourselves to speak with the manager. This time, he told us he was only offering 50% off our stay. That was not what we were originally told. Overall, this was an incredibly stressful experience.
