Holiday Inn Express Chicago - Magnificent Mile by IHG

The location to all things downtown was amazing! We had a very clean room, it was very small, I wish there was somewhere to sit besides the bed and no mini fridge!!

Its an old property (built in the 1920's I believe), very small rooms, awkward angles. Room never got cool. Gym is the size of a closet. Breakfast was decent.

Overall it was a great stay. The room was small but expected due to the location. The room was clean and the bathroom was nice. They had breakfast which was exceptional and the seating area was good.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was cozy and clean. Location is central and perfect for getting around.

Loved the hotel location, central, easy to reach many places and great restaurants nearby. Older property, would have preferred an easier way to enter up the front steps-ramp?

It was a great Stay. The hotel was centrally located. It was clean and adequate. The bed was comfortable. The room was on the smaller side but other than that perfect. Included Breakfast was excellent!

The hotel itself was nice and the location is great. But the rooms are small because of the building been an old original and one of the elevators were out, which made it difficult.

Pros were the location is top tier. I loved the view from my room. Convenience of parking in the garage coming and going as please was amazing. Cons I noticed weird nats or 3 bugs (extremely tiny) crawling on my bed in the middle of the night. Couple of other Cons as well but I rather not discuss. Hotel bellhop extremely helpful and courteous! Enjoyed the complimentary peppermints.

Room is very small and paid 679$ for 2 nights

My room was a little small, which wasn’t a major issue because it was just me, but could be difficult with another person. Breakfast was consistent, but without variation, at least during my three mornings there. Outside of that, everything was great.

The property is in a very good location. A lot of restaurants and shops are conveniently located around. However, being a historic building has its quirks. It is pretty charming and historic but being an old building, only having 2 elevators (during my stay only one was working) there is a consequence. All the staff are using the same elevator. No service elevator. If you are on the top floor, it takes a while. I mean a WHILE, specially in the morning when house keepers are busy as well. During my stay, 3 nights of the 5 nights I was there, the elevators are not even working at night. We were on the 10th floor and going up and down was a challenge. It will be an issue with elderly or disabled people.

Elevator not working for days, even if it works you will need 45 mins to come done approx or to go up, lot of time wasted due to this, staff is rude and not helpful, will never be at this hotel location again, please see better options nearby alot of them available for better price and good service

Exceptional

The issues we had were that we were on the 6th floor and there was only one elevator working. On several days, during out stay, we had to walk down the stairs. Myself and one other person in my group have a hard time with stairs, so this was no very inconvenient. Also, breakfast was served between 6:30am - 9:30am. We arrived at 9:20am, due to the fact that we had been waiting for the elevator and ended up walking down. The staff was already starting to put the food away. There was still plenty of items left; eggs, bacon, sausage and oatmeal. I was had scooped a spoonful of scrambled eggs, to put on my plate, and one of the staffs stopped me to say that breakfast was over. She expected me to place the eggs back. I questioned her and unfortunately, she did not understand me, so I repeated myself in Spanish. At this point she stepped away and let my group and I take what we could before they rushed to remove all the items. It's puzzling to think what were they going to do with the leftover items. Unfortunately, I will not recommend this hotel to family and friends.

Excellent location just off the Magnificent Mile. Walking distance to shopping and dining. Few minutes more to museums and Cloud Gate.
