The Allegro Royal Sonesta Hotel Chicago Loop
About The Allegro Royal Sonesta Hotel Chicago Loop
The Allegro’s storied history as a place of ambition, openness and joie de viver comes to life in modern day in the hotel’s glamorous vibes and refreshing charm. Located at the crossroads of Chicago’s backstory - government, theater, tech - and centered in the city’s beating heart, the hotel itself is well over 100 years old. Our story is rooted in the boldness of spirit that centers Chicago in practicality and ambition. The immigrant Eitel brothers purchased the hotel and, in 1924, acquired the rest of the entire south side of Randolph Street from LaSalle to Wells. With characteristic Chicago bravado, they raised and rebuilt the whole block to match their optimistic vision of the future including a 22-story office building, 2500-seat Palace Opera Theater and a 19-story hotel complete with exquisite details - including our striking marble staircase that still welcomes guests today. This vision of glamor and elegance welcomed all that was novel and new. Our four walls have hosted Vaudeville stars, tapped the first keg post-Prohibition and played headquarters to political change makers, jazz legends and movie stars. This is where you come in. Today, you’ll find no stodgy museum full of dusty historical treasure and tributes to the past. The Allegro is where vintage energy comes alive with Art Deco exuberance. Step up the sweeping staircase into the bustling Grand Lobby and feel the palpable energy of the roaring twenties. A spirit of beauty and optimism is everywhere. The decor. The historic details. The joyful service. Whether it’s champagne and popcorn in the lobby or the evening’s witty ‘Curtain Call’ cart with treasures to help you journey into dreamtime, you’ll find even the most un-thought of needs addressed by our considered details and insightful service. We can't wait to welcome you into our vibrant world to boldly create your own Chicago story, with your stay as the backdrop of the adventure.

The closet was tiny, my husband and I didn’t have sufficient space to store our clothes or place our luggage. This size of room will suite one person, nothing more than that.
-
Overall the hotel was clean and conveniently located. My only complaint was that they didn't have their breakfast restaurant open on Sunday, even though I had paid for breakfast through Expedia. They charge a resort fee, but there isn't much in the way of resort amenities.

Room was clean and staff was helpful and friendly

The room looked better than I expected. It was very spacious for me and my partner. The room was clean and had everything I needed: iron and board, a refrigerator, blackout curtains, etc.

I had a great stay. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help with anything I needed. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, and I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel was Awesome! We had an enjoyable stay in Chicago.

I didn’t like the traffic and the pay for parking
-
Amazing staff, poor service from management, had credit to be used and couldn’t. due to them not having kitchen operations during breakfast, or dinner. That’s all that I asked for being I figured 2/3 aren’t available I’ll assume it’s all 3 meals of the day. they had the bar going though ! And emphasized it lol beings it was the only thing they had going

It was very nice

The art deco design of the hotel is lovely and the location is perfect for exploring the Loop. But the staff are the reason we will come back! After we checked out we realized that we left food in the refridgerator - leftovers from a restaurant that makes the most amazing mole. I called the hotel and thankfully our room had not yet been cleaned, so the staff kindly held our food at reception until we could come back to pick it up. The also graciously did not make fun of us for being that obsessed with mole.

Great experience
-
The hotel is very nice and keeps true to the art deco theme throughout the lobby, bar and rooms. The staff was very nice and helpful. The hotel room was not the biggest, but it was very well equipped with a microwave and refrigerator, as well as a large television.
-
The only thing wrong was the door connecting to the other room had no lock. I did not like that.

The property is old but clean and a good value. Great location.

Great location and cool vibe

This was a wonderful place to stay for a night in Chicago! We got an excellent lunch recommendation from the bellhop, great communication from the front desk, some nice small perks (10% discount at the bar/restaurant, two complimentary bottles of water in the room, etc.). Leaving our bags so we didn't have to lug them around town with us for some daytime sight seeing before check in was easy. All staff on site were helpful and friendly! Excellent location at the heart of downtown and in the theatre district. So many great walkable restaurants, shows, etc.
