Excellent stay during a very busy time. Staff were very helpful with everything, including getting around the city, bringing forgotten items to the rooms etc. The rooms were beautifully equipped with robes and even an umbrella which was a nice touch. Ate at the roof top restaurant which was great and reasonably priced. Would recommend.

It was a great place.

Hotel is decent. It’s not as great as other Kimptons. The lobby and lower level are dark. Rooms don’t have great views. The rooftop and happy hour are nice. Not a lot of other amenities. I wouldn’t stay here again for the price.

Check in and service were good, and we enjoyed the free happy hour, but I expected more from the actual room for the Kimpton brand and the price. I feel like we must have just got a bad room compared to other reviews, room 1110. Our room was dark, no light came in through the window pressed up to another office building with people working just a couple feet away through the window (so we felt like we needed to keep our curtains closed), and the walls were painted a dark gray. The light fixtures in the room were not designed to be bright enough to counteract this. Our room was tiny, with a large awkward column to squeeze around in the middle of the room been the bed and the wardrobe/closet (I’m sure they couldn’t help this, structural). The fixtures and walls were so dinged up, paint chipped off heavily. Bathroom corners were grimey. Towels were bare minimum, one roll of toilet paper, no coffee machine unless you specifically request it. The location of our room was right by the elevator in an echoey marble hallway and every elevator ding and hallway conversation and footsteps came through our door crystal clear, all night long. The rooftop bar that we were looking forward to was closed for the entire day, on a Saturday. Something just felt off and not the Kimpton standard with this one.

We had a wonderful stay at the Kimpton Gray during our family trip to Chicago to visit the Obama Presidential Center. The hotel is beautiful, stylish, and centrally located, which made getting around the city easy. Our room was comfortable and clean, and the staff was friendly and accommodating throughout our stay. I would definitely stay here again on a future trip to Chicago.

Great stay!

Our original room had an “ bug” crawling on the bed. We alerted staff and was immediately moved to an upgraded room. Trip was ruined for me.

All around amazing!

Stayed 4 nights. Liked the property very centrally location everything walkable, it has a rooftop restaurant, it has a breakfast place, it is an older building but beautifully maintained. They have a 5pm social where you can join the guests and have drinks and light snacks. The management team is helpful. They also have fineness center. The area felt safe and hotel has security. For in room coffee or tea you need to ask for the set.

The hotel main areas and rooms were beautiful and the hotel was in a great location. We were disappointed that our room was not ready at the stated check-in time despite having called ahead to request early check-in. The staff were friendly and helpful, though.
