Even though the decor isn't vintage 1920s/30's, the function of the room still is. If you are okay with that then this hotel will suit you just fine. It is clean and comfortable, the staff are polite and helpful, and if you are just using it to sleep and as a home base for your Chicago adventures it works perfectly fine. The location and price is really the selling point.

This is a charming, positive-energy, no-frills hotel. The staff is genuine, helpful, and kind. The location is convenient. While the property doesn't have all the bells and whistles of some of its competitors, it offers rooms with enough space to 'feel like home,' close proximity to restaurants at a variety of price levels, public transportation & parking, community resources (including a world-class public library and plenty of colleges), and much more. It's a terrific place to stay if you're alone or traveling with a family/group.

The room was fine. There was nothing else available. No parking, no coffee or tea, other than the one in the room. I was there only one night, so it was ok

1. The air-conditioning was a small noisy unit that struggled to keep the room cool. 2. The bathroom had a bath but no plug so it was not possible to take a bath. The bathroom had a built shower which was ok but it meant climbing into the bath to take a shower. We asked Reception for a replacement but were told there are no plug in any room so no-one any room could take a bath. This is illogical and surely if this is company policy then the bath should have been replaced by a bespoke shower unit! 3. We asked for extra creamer to make a drink in our room but were told by Reception there was no creamer available until the next delivery. This happened twice. I believe the above demonstrates a lack care and attention to detail.

We saw a show at The Auditorium, and it was a quick walk. Great location for sightseeing.

Great Location.

Rooms need upgrade or atleast major repairs. Very old room. Very small with tiny bathroom.

You get what you pay for. The price of this place was good for my budget, and the location was great. however the air conditioner was loud, positioned poorly which messed up my breathing while trying to sleep, the sheers didn't block out the sun or outside evening lights, towels were cheap and would leave cotton on my face after drying it, overall not great. Looking back I should have forked out the extra money to pay for a better place.

The property is conveniently located just off Michigan Ave. The staff were helpful and friendly. The property needs a facelift. Everything looks old and worn. The room did not have any USB outlets. The electrical outlets were all worn out and won’t hold a plug. The TV didn’t work (I called the front desk twice about the TV and it was not fixed while we were there). There was no fridge in the room. There is an L track right next to the hotel and the windows don’t keep the train noise out.

Attention cleanliness and a cosy place to stay. Have a breakfast restaurant and other side a Korean food wich was delicious. The area it’s Uber friendly and many places around. We will be back

Air conditioning had a funky, dirty socks smell. Wasn't sure if it could bring in outside air. Carpet could use a good steam-cleaning, but everything else was very clean. Staff was friendly.

Hector at the front desk was superb. The TV in my room was not functioning, and I brought it to his attention. He was empathetic and professional, and requested maintenance. However, Maintenance never showed for the duration of my three day stay. That was highly disappointing. Hector was apologetic during checkout and stated he would resolve the matter prior to that next person‘s stay. All in all, the location is ideal, rates were reasonable, and the room was clean. The staff was friendly and inviting each time I departed and re-entered.

The bed was comfy and the towels were so soft!

The hotel is in a good location, but the rooms are in need of renovation. The beds are terrible—very old—and one of the bed bases was completely broken. The sheets looked dirty. It is a hotel that really needs to make changes and undergo significant renovations.
-
I was surprised that there wasn't even a small refrigerator in the room. The biggest downside was the train tracks located very close to the hotel. The noise from the trains, especially at night, made it difficult to get a good night's sleep. The location is great though.

The room smelled. The outlets were kind of 'iffy", the coffee pot cord was too short and didn't reach the outlet, the bathroom tub made was somewhat slippery. PROS I appreciated the professionalism of the staff and the privacy that I was given. The bed is SUPER COMFORTABLE! The air-conditioner worked well.

Central location, walkable distance to different parts of the city but also train station. Great value overall.

Cute hotel in a convenient location. Very old building, which is fine, but the rooms could use some additional updates to be more stars. Keep the charm, update the rest. It’s doable.
