The location felt very safe for a solo woman traveler. Staff was friendly, other guests also friendly and respectful. They switched my room prior to checking in so wasn’t in such a busy area (keep the rooms more empty for everybody) which I really appreciated. The outdoor area in the back is nice to sit in. Staff is attentive to peoples needs. There’s not many outlet options in the bedroom. When sleeping in the top bunk I had to charge my phone on the floor. It felt a bit risky so I only charged my phone while awake (or in the kitchen). I wish there were permanent extension cords provided that ran up the bed frame to the top bunks!

Very hostel oriented atmosphere and positive vibes Well equipped kitchen and common spaces are very cozy Impeccably clean Toilet on the second floor is having flush issues. Not ideally situated from downtown, however the neighbourhood is calm.

Which is not on the hostel, but that was the only thing bothered me

I liked the staff. Everyone is exceptional. Heads above the rest ? Cold weather

Location, staff availability, cleanliness Bike rentals were a bit pricey for shitty bikes

The room was clean. The bathroom was a little bit messy with hair in the sink. Surely the person before so I don’t hold it against the host.

the location is very close to downtown Detroit, in a safe and quiet neighborhood could have used more bathrooms, like urinals

Easy & welcoming check-in process, clean facility and comfortable room, nice decor, friendly atmosphere The morning of my check-out I wanted to ask if late check-out would be possible. Whether it was yes or no was no problem at all, but unfortunately the WhatsApp number they gave me never responded despite multiple texts & calls. I couldn’t use the SMS or regular call function since I have a non-American phone number. There was also nobody at the front desk to ask in person. As a hostel, it would be helpful to monitor the WhatsApp as that’s the main way people from outside the U.S. can communicate.

The place has plenty of parking, bathrooms on every floor, and is pretty clean. My mattress was comfortable and I appreciate that there was a fan to help with air flow and noise. Also, they had room darkening curtains which was nice. Even though it was the 4th of July week, the outside noise wasn't bad. I would recommend that you bring a blackout mask as the main lights in your section are kept on all night for other guests. I had to change my reservation which was my mistake, but they didn't respond through the app (email, phone or text) nor did they when I tried directly. It was 3-4 days before I got a hold of someone and it was fine but it was stressful not knowing. Also, if you are not techy like me, they want you to check in and out electronically. I couldn't figure it out so I left a message when I left.

Not much to like Almost everything about this place was disappointing. I honestly don’t understand how it gets five-star reviews. My experience was terrible. The location is awful—no nearby bus stops, and it’s not within walking distance of downtown. The hostel itself feels like a ruin, both inside and out. The rooms are tiny and uncomfortable. To make things worse, the noise was unbearable—people snored all night, making it impossible to sleep. It wasn’t even that cheap! For the same price, you could get a much more comfortable private hotel room a bit farther out. Overall, a horrible experience—I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

I really liked the feel of the place, brings me back to my youth traveling Europe. The eclectic furniture all over is exceptional, and it was fun just going around to see it all. Very cool that it was a cooperative project with over 100 people who donated to the project. I also loved renting the bike from them, I went all over Detroit with it. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I stayed in one of the dorms, but you can rent a private room as well. You can use one of the 2 kitchens to cook your own food. Also, bring your own Masterlock for the free use of the lockers!

The location is great, feels safe and has a special atmosphere. I really liked the design of the hostel and that they give advice on what to do in the area. The bed was super-comfortable and the shared bathroom nice and clean. There are gaps between the door and the frame. Apart from that: everything was perfect!

Place itself is nice, comfortable bed, and can move around. Request granted on bed assignment. you can cook as you preferred. cost saving it is! Location is quiet remote to consider to main city / main area of the marathon start / finish time. no bus or have to walk further from the bus stop. quiety worry at night if safe to walk late night.

The hostel was so great. It snowed the day I was there, and my room was so warm and comfortable. Everything was very clean and updated.
