Location It was very old and smelled musty. The bathroom was very tiny .

The hotel is very unique. Very old-fashioned. Not like many hotels. It really worked for our travel needs. I really can’t say anything really bad about the place. The only constructive criticism I could give is I would think that breakfast should be at 6 AM not 8 AM.

Very easy walk to downtown shops and places to eat. Our room needed blackout curtains and new mini blinds for privacy.

Old building with a lot of history and character. The staff was very nice and accommodating. The Inn is not only on a main thoroughfare for“old town”, but there seems to be an inordinate number of cars, trucks and motorcycles with modified performance engines/mufflers that frequent the road. It sounds like drag racing at all hours of the night. It’s loud enough to shake the windowpanes. The rooms are tiny and creaky. I chalked it up to “old world charm”.

So incredibly charming. Helpful staff. Great recommendations for places to go. Very clean. Comfortable. Quick walk to everything

The best thing about the Old Silk Mill is location. It is walking distance to downtown, which made it nice for going out in the evening and not having to worry about driving or parking. The inn is grim, drab and extremely outdated. The decor needs major updating, as do the bathrooms. Rooms are quite small. Walls are paper thin. There was no door separating the bedroom and the bathroom. It was fine for one night, but I wouldn't advise a longer stay. It would have been nice if there were blackout shades for the windows.

Location and the authentic old time feeling and experience. It is not a modern hotel or fancy downtown hotel. This is an old establishment that has old time character. It was walkable to all aspects of the downtown and situated close to the river, so walking into town on a quieter street was nice. The staff is very nice and genuine. This place has a wedding/event venue in an old mill - there was not an event when we were there, which likely made for a quieter stay. I don't want to say I didn't like something when the price/location was so good. The bed was ok - a bit soft.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Beautiful antiques all thru the Inn.

There was a mix up on the check in. A lock box was to be on our door a staff member decided to stay but then they didn’t come out to greet until the owner was in his way to let us in . They saw us but thought we were just hanging around. No Elevator! Stairs were hard to do with luggage and a bad knee.

Beautifully decorated, lots of history in it!

  • Engine customer Nov 2025

The inn is very nice. Loved the grand staircase and the staff was very nice My room location was at the intersection and the street noise was pretty loud at times.

The staff members were very nice and accommodating. The grounds for the venue seemed nice. Our room was extremely tired/run down (not rustic) and the beds were not comfortable. I don't feel that the room or the location were correctly advertised or priced.

The location was great. The public areas have a shabby elegance that brings back memories of an earlier era. Fredericksburg was well worth exploring for a day. The room was disappointing. Poor bed---squeaky and uncomfortable. The toilet made an ear-splitting squeal when flushed. No desk for laptop. Poor lighting. Poor breakfast. Stay was poor value..

  • Engine customer Sep 2025

The staff were excellent and friendly The floors and bed was horrible. Noisy. and we could hear the bed in the room next to us creaking as if it was in our room which caused us to sleep unwell.

A historic property with lots of charm in the perfect location!! The staff were extremely kind and made our stay and made the event we were celebrating something special. They truly care and we felt very well taken care of. We had so much fun just looking around the property and loved the unique rooms. We were able to walk pretty much everywhere on our itinerary. We will definitely be back! We loved it all! Slightly creaky floorboards come with the history of the building and we appreciated all the character.

Location Requested a queen size room, got stuck with a double bed

  • Engine customer Jul 2025

Historic hotel in the middle of Fredericksburg - the staff was very friendly and accommodations were very historic. Because it's so old, there's no sound insulation and bed was comfy but creaky. There was a wedding that weekend, so there were lots of folks loudly going down the halls, and the sound carries like crazy there. Everything else was great!

  • Engine customer Jul 2025

I loved the decor with all of the antiques! Loud cars reving their engines up and down the street all night

  • Engine customer Jun 2025

paid $5 more than total price that booking.com promissed.
