The stay was not bad, but not great either. We were in town for the TN State Square Dance Convention and this was one of the preferred hotels for the convention. First, the good. The hotel itself was not bad, the room was comfortable and the amenities were pretty nice. they have a pool that was indoor, but extended outside. the breakfast bar was pretty nice and was filling. now the bad. We booked the stay and paid in advance so that we would have a smooth check-in when we arrived and would not have extended time getting settled in. We get to the front desk only to be told we had a charge of $16-17 per day for parking onsite. Absolutely ridiculous in my opinion!! We booked the room for 5 nights, which was already $500-600 and now we have to pay an additional $85 just to park onsite? I mean, I'm pretty sure they expect people to bring a car with them most of the time, so why create an extra charge? If I was bringing my dogs, you wouldn't wait to charge me when i get there, you would charge me up front. If you need to increase the cost of the room to cover parking then do that, don't hit people when checking in. I would have factored this into my decision whether to stay there or not. Their own brochures on the counter even said "Complimentary parking for guests" which made the extra charge even more suspicious to me. When my wife and i asked why they charge when it states complimentary on the brochure, the front desk attendant simply said it was a new policy in last year.

Parking garage was so tight I could barely fit in the spaces and with a wall behind us, it took a long time to wiggle out. Looked like the ceiling had been repaired so much that I wondered if it would collapse. Lobby and outside elevator areas were reasonably cleaned and maintained, just dated. Room was disappointing. Ceiling was yellowed, as though it once was a smoking room and wasn’t painted before no longer being a smoking room. The moulding pieces around the ceiling were misaligned and the repair was to fill in the space with layers of something ugly - like caulking or dirty silicone - where the pieces didn’t connect evenly. Paint throughout was uneven, discolored, scuffed…A coat of paint would have made a big difference. Balcony door was off the tracks upon arrival. A maintenance man arrived and fixed it soon after we called. I’ve traveled extensively and this is the first time I’ve had a balcony door that locks with a bar across the glass, midway up. The beds were the worst. Lumpy, uneven mattresses. Very uncomfortable. Pillows have seen better days. Need to be replaced. Breakfast staff was very nice. I vote to cook the sausage longer, add bacon and pastries. Summary: Employees - excellent. Everything else - not comfy. Won’t be back.

I loved the location , rooms clean , bathrooms had great water pressure The fee to park is ridiculous when you’re paying to stay there ! It’s almost $17 a night ! The breakfast is fair ! Nothing stands out , no fruit at all , beds are super hard and old

Although this is an older property, it is in an excellent location along a creek with plenty of entertainment to watch. At least once per day, a bear was seen walking down the river, sometimes to the surprise of pedestrians. The bears also walk into Gatlinburg, so it is important to remain vigilant that they may be in the area. They are not aggressive, just present.

Enjoyed our stay, staff was helpful.

Breakfast was great and the view in the dinning room was breathtaking. We even seen a bear coming out of the dumpster out the window. He walked over to Edgewater and got in the stream as if it was him morning routine. I'd heard about the bear sighting but never thought I would see one. Never felt afraid, just aware.

The lady who welcomed us was in a very bad mood when we arrived, which was not a great first impression. The breakfast was very disappointing, with limited options and poor-quality food. We chose this hotel over other options specifically because of the breakfast, but unfortunately, it was not worth it. We ended up having breakfast elsewhere every day. Finally, our room had a strong smell of humidity. The room itself was clean, but every time we entered, it took some time to get used to the smell. Aside from these issues, our overall experience was good. However, given these points, I would not choose this hotel again.

We were very disappointed in the girl that checked us in. She was very unfriendly and dismissive. Our room was very damp and smelled extremely musty. The breakfast was ok. The best part was the cinnamon raisin toast. It is a very old place and is in need of a renovation. I would not stay here again, unless it was renovated and updated.
