The Vurpillat Beachfront Hotel

Amazing location for a beachfront vacation with everything you need within a 5-10 minute walk. Property is a historic building with lots of character so the rooms are rustic and basic. Staff are friendly and helpful when they are around, often a phone call away.

The building is 100 years old. So, no elevator and no air conditioning. Windows let in the ocean breeze to cool. (No bug screens though). Our room had a nice full kitchen. Parking is limited. But they offer passes to park nearby. WiFi was good. Staff was helpful and really worked to get us squared away and help out when we needed something.

The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are good size and filled with some new amenities, lights, bedding, cookware. Parking is a challenge, so maybe call ahead and make arrangements. Windows. Well, if you like airtight, airconditioned, this probably isn't for you. If you've slept on the beach, you'll love it! The nightlife acts accordingly. Be prepared and just go with the flow. Have yourself a little party here. I think it's been that way since the 1940's. ;)

The location is unbeatable, except by properties that charge hundreds per night more. It's right on the beach, and you can actually hear the waves at night. Located right on the beach path, near restaurants and all conveniences -- I rented an ebike and did a 25 mile ride on the path, and it was AWESOME. The room was clean, and the host was extremely helpful in locating parking, etc. It's an older building, so a bit quirky, mostly in a cool way -- staying in a historical spot like this (built in 1923 originally, and beautifully restored) was super cool. Not a luxury spot, but a great value.

The property was super unique and vintage. Unfortunately they were in the middle of remodeling some of the rooms so there was a lot of furniture in the halls. There were almost no outlets in the room we were in, and you could tell they are working on electrical stuff. Overall super charming and an absolutely beautiful location. Definitely a unique stay.

Unbeatable location. Very helpful staff. This is an old building and the owners are in the process of updating it while preserving the historical look and feel. We liked the TV, dresser, bed, couch and kitchen. The shower is small and the windows are a little sticky. There is no air conditioning but the ocean breeze and fans kept us comfortable.

We really enjoyed our stay here. We had a partial ocean view room and it was really nice to wake up to every morning. The hotel does not have AC and it was a bit humid so it was a little bit hard for us because it was sticky. It comes with a fridge and a stove and that was pretty helpful. The manager was absolutely amazing. The bathrooms could be a bit nicer. There’s rust on some of the metal in there and it’s just a bit dated. But it does look like they are still kind of renovating a little bit, but there is no dust or anything like that around. The location is just absolutely phenomenal.

The hotel is VERY old school. If you like 1920 architecture, a very relaxed atmosphere, and a beachy vibe (like I do), then this is your place. If you like elevators, concierges, and swimming pools…this isn’t for you. I’l be going back again and again.

Very hard to find but when I called the staff was super helpful to navigate me there . Excellent location right on beach within walking distance to everything. Only downside is no air , as long as you come in the cooler months , it’ll be great

Location is great - unobstructed views of the ocean, fresh ocean breezes. However, the windows have no screens and can barely slide they are quite decrepit, as is much of the interior. Maybe when it’s finally finished renovations, it will be quite grand, but otherwise it’s very much a work in progress. Curtains are stained, old windows let in everything including street noise. If you’re ok sacrificing some clean comfort, it’s an interesting experience.

This was our first time staying at The Vurpillat hotel. The owner, Jay, was prompt at checking us in and upgrading our room upon request. The location is perfect. Right on the Strand and several windows with ocean views. This old hotel is full of charm and relaxing vibes. We will be returning soon. 😃

Great staff, FANTASTIC LOCATION

There is no AC, which isn't usually necessary on the beach, but I went during a really hot spell and even with a portable fan and the window open was uncomfortable sleeping. A ceiling fan would really help. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Parking can be a challenge, but it is the beach! Even from my back room I had an ocean/beach view. Location is right in the middle of the beach and walkable to countless bars & restaurants and convenience stores.

This hotel is in a perfect location for walking along the beach and to restaurants.

The owner of this amazing space right on the beach with spectacular views is the best host we have experienced in the industry. The well furnished in period rooms have so many small details to keep you smiling. The rooms are spacious, beautiful, and comfortable. You will also get great recommendations for all of your needs in this area. Truly a place to stay and a beach to visit.

Property was old with no a/c, no screens on windows, loose chords laying on floor of room which was a tripping hazard and wanted $25 for parking on side of building which had broken down cars in it and everyone had to park behind each other. Walked in room and flys were in room due to windows open with no screens. Room had an old stove and refrigerator in it that was not clean and appeared not to work. I recommend not staying here eventhough it is right on the beach. Do not waste your time. Book at the Grandview Inn
