Cons: older motel, no fridge/microwave in my room, slanted bathroom, stained carpet, small elevators. Pros: pool area, balcony, location next to river/riverwalk, Ruth-Chris Steakhouse inside hotel, friendly staff. Also, $25/day parking, overpriced $25 breakfast buffet. Owners need to spend money. Btw, I did see "Dog"Chapman and his wife there on July 4th, 2026

The location on the St John’s is a stellar location especially for 4th of July and the fireworks. If it wasn’t for that would not stay here. Hotel is in terrible need of renovations and then they need to maintain it.

It's a beautiful place to stay with great staff and fun for everyone. Very comfy beds and lots of things to do close by. Will definitely be back 😁

May I suggest that housekeeping or maintenance test all locks regularly if that isn't already a thing. Finally, the breakfast buffet at $20 per person was a little much and once was enough, especially since my kid was basically charged $20 for a bagel and a few slices of bacon. The next morning we went elsewhere for breakfast. One last minor nitpick was the fact that there was only one small bar of soap in the bathroom. Two would've been ideal, one for the shower, one for the sink, but again we made it work.

First it doesn’t come with breakfast, there was no microwave oven in the room I had to go downstairs to use on.

To establishment when I’m in Jacksonville great staff great location 10/10

Be aware that even if Expedia says you booked a room with a river view, doesn’t mean that when you get there you will get that room. I paid for a river view and the hotel said they didn’t have that available on their end. So I did not get that room.

Great location. Very old property. Rooms have not been updated in at least a decade. Not joking. Also not very clean or maintained. 20 dollars a person for lackluster breakfast buffet. Overall average experience considering cost.

The location is great. Being on the Riverwalk and near the friendship fountain was awesome. Having Ruth Chris within the hotel is very convenient. If I had any issue it was the fact that it's a cashless hotel. They expect you to only use a credit card for all your purchases or put your purchases on your room. I personally find that offensive. I prefer paying cash for my purchases while at the hotel. Also, I don't think it's right that a hotel charge you for parking. If you self-parked you shouldn't be charged a fee.

Very outdated rooms,

The property is walking distance to many adventures. My favorite part is the river view! Nothing

I originally booked this hotel because I have fond memories of staying here with my family years ago when it operated as the Crowne Plaza. On the drive to the hotel, I was telling my wife how excited I was to show her a place that I remembered so positively. Unfortunately, the experience was nothing like I remembered. When we arrived, our first room was in very poor condition. The baseboards were covered in dust, the carpet was sticky and stained, and the air conditioning unit was making an extremely loud noise. I went to the front desk, and the staff apologized and moved us to another room. While the air conditioner in the second room was quieter, the overall cleanliness was just as disappointing. The room appeared neglected and did not meet the standards I would expect from a DoubleTree property. What made this especially upsetting was hearing my wife say later that evening, “We haven’t stayed at a hotel this bad in a while.” That comment really hit me because I was the one who chose this hotel, hoping to share a positive experience and some good memories with her. I appreciate that the staff attempted to address the issue by moving us, but the condition of both rooms left us very disappointed. After not feeling comfortable to even sleep there for the night, we had to move hotels at midnight.

The hotel is completely ran down and old…the carpet was stained and torn…up under the bed was trash…the bathroom wallpaper was coming up….the pipes in bathroom had rust around them…the floor board was molded and paint was chipped off…the balcony had mold from the air conditioner leaking and it was cigarette butts outside…it’s a 5 star restaurant on site but there were roaches around the entrance into the building
