Staybridge Suites Lubbock South by IHG

I was charged extra 100 for "incidentals" just for one night. That money gets lost somewhere if I don't call the bank or call the hotel. They charge you this money at check in but at check out they simply turn a blind eye. This norm is unfair. Hotel is OK. Bed is too soft. Walls too thin, you hear all noises from corridors and from rooms next door. Staff needs customer service training, while I was doing the check in, the front desk lady was on the phone the whole time not providing information. Location is good. I will definitely not stay here on my next trips to Lubbock.

Breakfast(with variety) every morning! Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday free dinner with a glass of wine! Rooms were very nice. Price was supper affordable especially for a suite with a 2 queen bed bedroom, separate living room, full kitchen with all nice appliances! Very comfortable beds.

The room was okay, the shower needed a new shower head. I asked for an extra towel and was basically told no that then I could steal it. So there’s that.. the location was good.

I found multiple issues with this Staybridge Suites room and property maintenance and upkeep that is subpar with overall quality expected at a Staybridge property. I felt that corporate offices should know along with the local property management. First, I picked this property because it provides washer and dryers. There was only one, ONE, washer in use that did not have an "Out of Order" sign on it. Second, we discovered over 7 roaches, bugs, in our unit #123 over the course of our stay. Third, the dishwasher did not have a utensil basket in it and did not work. Fourth, trash pieces were strewn and weeds were not kept up around the foundation of the building. Fifth,wear and tear on furniture pieces and carpet stains were more obvious this stay. I will not be staying here or recommending this property in the future. It is a disappointment to the brand.

Staff was supper helpful really clean and nice environment breakfast was not bad could use some more updating but nice to have and it’s located in a nice area to get around in the city.

Pictures online are outdated as the buffet area is more bear than what they offer compared to the photos. Also the patio area and putting green and furniture I’ll need repair. There were rips in the cushions, the grills were broken, and all of the light fixtures were torn off. The fountain was overrun with weeds and not working and the bar/grill area was filthy with debris behind the counter. The gates are kept open where anyone from off the street can come and sit back there which seems a bit unsafe. The breakfast area was practically nonexistent and hardly anything available to eat. The rooms were clean and the staff was actually very nice and helpful. I know it’s not their fault for the condition of the building and for what they offer for breakfast as that most likely comes from upper management. The staff truly is nice and helpful and I hope that the owners fix the place up as it does have potential. It is false advertisement with the photos they have from five years ago. I was disappointed because we were meeting family there for our stay and was hoping to utilize the back patio area as it looked lovely online. Very disappointing.

Although I was disappointed that there was no orange juice or eggs on the morning I was there, I have to give this place a 5/5 because everything else was just perfect. The three main things I look for in a hotel room are quietness, comfortable bed, and good shower. This room was excellent in all three of these categories. The desk clerk was very apologetic regarding the deficiencies in the breakfast. She said that a supply truck had not arrived as scheduled. Hopefully this is a rare occurrence, because all other aspects of this hotel were wonderful in my opinion.

Clean hotel room. It’s well maintained outside, just worn out. Walls are thin, but it didn’t bother us much. Overall, nice hotel to stay at if you are needing to be in Lubbock for a few days.

Horrible experience, not happy at all! Made a reservation online for a room with two queen size beds as we were traveling to Texas Tech for my son’s orientation and booked it for 2 nights. We check in around 10pm since we had a 7 hour drive. First they don’t tell you that you will be charged $100 refundable fee after you leave, so I was surprised for that, but also when we couldn’t get into our room. We had to go back to the front desk and of course holler for help and the lady does something with the card and has us go back only for it not to work again. So back down we go to the front counter and this time she tried it herself, nope, no luck and proceeded to tell us someone must be in there and they can’t get in the room until a technician shows up which will be the next day. So after waiting an hour they decided to give us a room with a king bed and a folded out couch.. This place was not as clean as other reviews say it was, we had stains on the chairs, floors, and sheets. The shower floor had me worried to even step in, it was so dirty. My son had to sleep on this folded out couch that had stains on it and so thin I felt bad, so I had to go down to the front desk to ask for extra sheets just so I could double layer it. She said she’d move us once they had another room open up but that never happened, I also thought they would make it right some how but did nothing. I paid more for 2 beds and there was no compensation for down grading us. Will not be back to this place.

The room smelled a little a musty odor

To make matters worse, there was no one at the front desk when I checked out, which reflects a lack of professionalism and customer service. The only positive thing I can say is that the property was quiet. For the price yall advertise, I expected much better cleanliness, comfort, and service. Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing experience, and I will not be returning.

Dog walk area was full of cement pieces and poop bag dispenser was empty

Hotel was nice and had everything we needed. Breakfast area has fountain drink machine. That’s a big win!

Public areas and room appeared clean. Front desk staff often absent. Room set up was good except for bathroom. The toilet shower area was so small you had to step between the toilet and the shower to close the door. Risk of hitting your foot with the door is high. I don't know if all the rooms are like that, but I feel sorry for the staff who has to clean it.
