Hotel Abrego

I have stayed at this hotel before and it was great but not so much this time. First of all I am partly disabled. We were assigned a room in one of the other buildings, not the main one. There was no elevator in that building and we were given a room on the second floor. My wife had to carry the luggage up the stairs while I had a very difficult time getting up the stairs each time. Therefore we did not do the evening free wine because of the trouble getting up and down the stairs. In the room, we had gotten a deluxe room that said it has 2 queen beds. I didn't have measuring tape but I seriously doubt they were queen beds. My wife and I barely fit on one. I think they were double size beds and they were extremely uncomfortable. Both my wife and I woke up with very sore backs. For breakfast, it appeared they only had 1 person working and they were overwhelmed. Often there was no hot food due to the one person being behind (not because she wasn't trying). The second day we decided to go out instead. And finally they didn't leave enough coffee in the room for even one day. I need my coffee but I couldn't go up and down the stairs to go to the office to get some although the one time we did there was no coffee. Likely won't come back. Too bad.

We got to the hotel and while I was getting ready my infant was in the bed where he was playing with a roach. I freaked out, that was number one. 2 when I went into the bathroom, it wouldn’t flush. I also didn’t see a microwave which I needed to make a bottle for my infant. We left after like 20 minutes and booked another hotel. It was very unfortunate and a waste of our money.

Great location. Nice hotel.

The property was clean. The room was clean. The staff was ok. The room we had was below a nonstop jumping off the bed and running a marathon above us. We let the staff know and unfortunately the noise never ever stopped. I got tired of complaining so we left earlier than usual!!! This used to be our favorite place to stay. NO LONGER!!!

Great location, close to downtown and 5 minutes from the wharf and cannery row. Room was nice, bed was comfortable and the staff was great, we will be staying here when we come back to Monterey.

Rooms- they were clean and good size. However, items inside were a little rundown. Given the priced I paid per night I was expecting a little more. Bed was comfortable. Door to fridge was loose. Top door latch was loose. Hot water to sink was extremely hot so becareful. Breakfast- it was good. Some sausages or bacon would had made it excellent. Didn't get to use hot tub and pool cause of the weather. Overall- good decent place. Building and property was clean and quiet. Nice friendly staff. Just don't expect to much.

We stayed in June 2026, my husband and I had a wonderful stay. The bed was firm in our premium king bed room-which was fine. They brought us extra pillows upon request. All of the staff are very kind and professional. The amenity fee of $20/night includes parking and breakfast buffet.. which is a great deal. There was plenty of parking in the main parking lot near the entry doors and around the backside of the property. The nightly complimentary wine coupons were a nice surprise. 1 glass per person; choice of either red or white; their choice. Great location- very walkable to downtown and across the street from 2 gas stations. We will be back.

Staff was really nice. Oh this room was *definitely* not worth what we paid for it. The staff was nice but the room was very run down. And the balcony was a box next to a freeway. No smoking in the hotel, but they're standing right outside puffing away so it goes into the rooms anyway.

Having stayed here before many years ago, was very pleased to go back. Great breakfast offering, lovely room and very easy to walk into town.

Min of June and broken AC in the room. Never again.

The stuff was really nice and the hotel was spotted nearby the center by foot.

Room was clean, beds comfortable. No fan in the bathroom so had to keep door open to release shower moisture and lots of holes in the shower head were plugged so the spray was spraying in lots of directions. Fireplace didn’t work. Small patio was nice. Good value, nice hotel, staff were super helpful and nice, free parking, close to restaurants along Alvarado Street.

The room was great and had a fireplace. Very nice lounge with a free glass of wine in the evening.

The staff is always polite and helpful. We've never had a bad stay. The pool was cold this time and the lock is very janky, however My key wouldn't work and neither would the maintenance guy's, but he was great and got the gate open.
