Monterey Bay Inn

My husband and I enjoyed 2 nights here for my birthday. The full Ocean view from the balcony was lovely and to top it off we got to watch the nearly full lunar eclipse from there. The hotel is nicely located between Canary Row and old wharf. Since we enjoy walking we didn't drive anywhere. Convenient parking too.

Beautiful hotel. Would stay again

Breakfast delivered to the room every morning was a treat. Our harbor view room was perfect & clean. We left our balcony screen door open the entire time. Great location. We parked our car when we got there and we walked everywhere. . We didn't like leaving.

Balcony was large and looked right down on the water. Breakfast was excellent, afternoon cookies were a nice touch, proximity to shopping and restaurants was great. On-site parking. Would definitely recommend.

Good location and helpful staff. Unfortunately, these were the main positives of our stay. The hotel feels old and quite dated. There is parking under the building, but the spaces are tight. Although it is covered, the parking area is open and unsecured, so anyone from the street can access it. The room was small, the furniture was worn, and overall the interior did not feel very inviting. For the price, I definitely do not think it offers good value. I assume the location is the main reason why such average, or even rather poor, hotels can charge these prices in Monterey. It is a small town, yet hotel prices can be similar to, or even higher than, those in Los Angeles or San Francisco. The breakfast was honestly a joke.

The staff was extremely nice and helpful. Loved the room and the bed was particularly comfortable. Hotel is a little tired and could use some upgrading, but great location with an unobstructed view of the beach and the colony of sea lions parked on that beach.

Location, ocean view, comfort, quiet, romantic the hotel is a little bit outdated but well maintained.

Our bathroom light was flashing, the cream tube looked like it had been used by another guest, the sliding door fell off its hinger with the first slide, the pot did not work and needed to be replaced. We were just uncomfortable and think the Monterey Inn should not have stars at all.

What I like about the property is that it’s on the beach. What I DID NOT like about the property was that it is $500 a night with no microwave I say that because it’s a tourist town & we eat out with leftovers no way to heat them up, the “breakfast” was well Novato be desired, and it felt more like a motel.
