My husband and I were mesmerized by the sound of the ocean, we slept with the patio doors open. We went August 20, 2026 and totally enjoyed our room. We lazily drank coffee in bed while waking up and the went down to have breakfast. We dined outside (the patio heaters were on). Excellent and then we walked to the Monterey Aquarium and enjoyed 20 foot aquarium window, sturgeon. jelly fish, very helpful docents.

Love the easy access to amenities. I enjoyed the CAR WEEK energy along with wildlife viewing (seals and pelicans)! Bicycle trails nearby are fun (Mad Dog rentals) and I hope to do the kayaking next time!

The next morning, we had breakfast and from the time it took to sit down and receive our food was about 1 hour and a half and we were barely waited on. I understand that it was Monterey car week, however you pay a premium for the service and it was under delivered.

Excellent hotel perfect for exploring the area by foot and in car. Room was excellent for 2 adults and 2 teenagers. Would highly recommend this hotel.

It was an ok stay. For the money I paid I was expecting a much better room. I felt like I was in the basement. Even though I had a room with the ocean view and the view was wonderful I felt the room itself was dark and nothing special. It also seemed old and the sliding doors were old and not working properly. I have stayed at much less expensive hotels with better rooms. The view though was beautiful and the sound of the waves at night was so relaxing. Food at the restaurant Schooners was mediocre. Nothing impressive except the view.
