Monterey Fairgrounds Inn

I was charged for a day as I asked to leave. I would like to dispute the charge of $110.00. The property needs to be updated badly. This property is not up to par. The manager asked why her customers were not returning. Obviously the condition of the property was a factor.

I was not empress, but, it was the weekend, so, all hotels are going to be expensive. The bed only had one sheet and we had to put a quarter in the ice machine. I have never done that before anywhere. I have stayed in hotels in that area with better maintained rooms with similar price range.

Was the room clean? I honestly couldn’t tell. There was a bad smell, holes in the walls, and paint peeling everywhere. It was one of the three worst places I’ve ever stayed. I slept for the three hours I absolutely needed and left immediately

Room desperately needs remodeling. Black mold in shower tile. Floor has been flooded and is uneven. Every single surface is dirty. Trim was literally missing from the desk. All furniture total curb alerts! Lol

Fine for 1 night.

The door was busted an didn't lock right. People knocked on are door at late hours . The location was not clean room had trash from other people.

The room was dirty and had an unpleasant odor. The sheets appeared clean but we're stained. The desk was dingy and a foot long portion of the laminate edging was missing. It is very poorly maintained.

Dirtiest place I’ve ever stayed. Mattress was crap furniture was broken and there were holes in the wall and every wall was marked up with scuff marks.

The bed was broken, I slept on a slant. I slept just fine, just disappointed, especially for paying almost $300 for the night. The curtain rod was dangling off (I fixed it). And there was a patch of plaster on the wall, really should have been painted over. Missed the standard- no bible (I’m not religious but ALL hotels have bibles even the crappy ones).

It was nice and quiet

Room looked like it was made up, but was dirty when we arrived. Paint/wall material was falling off the walls in spots. The small chair in the room was very stained to the point you would not want to sit in it... attempted to flip the cushion over and found vape pens and garbage. The bathroom was nice, but looked like it was pieced together with different types of materials. The floor was soggy in spots. Cleaned the room with handy wipes and either found blood or red paint on the night stand. We were not able to cancel b/c of the busy weekend. Staff were pleasant to talk to initially. You're only allowed one car, or they will charge you for additional. No screens on the windows. Not recommended to stay here.

Dirty overall but did manage to hang out by the pool alone and it was awesome staff other than cleaning ladies is lazy. Management sucks in other words. Whoever own this spot should sell now. Way too messy and crappy for Monterey.

The room had ONE light bulb for the entire room, the bed was uneven

Staff scammed us, once I checked in asked how many cats I told them two the guy said $25 for the extra car once my husband came the lady charged him $35. There was four empty parking spaces at midnight so it wasn’t that there was no room for the cars to charge extra. Also I observed several cars in the parking lot without the parking ticket they gave us Did not like there were no signs for the doors (the do not disturb signs). So housekeeping came to clean the room when it wasn’t needed and waited till nobody was there. When my husband arrived they refused to let him in the room because they were cleaning.

The room was not as described whatsoever. There were dirty sheets curtains and floors. We had to pay a quarter for ice. The price we paid to stay in this rundown space was disappointing and disgusting. I felt unsafe and did not even shower due to the cleanliness of the bathroom. I will never stay here

Just needed a place to stay near attractions. I appreciate i could check in late.

Pictures mean little so thus the review. The staff were really nice and great.I have no complaints about staff or treatment. They are excellent! If you are someone who likes clean to "look" clean, this isn't the hotel for you. The door gaps had sunlight showing all around after it was fully closed. The gap under the door was huge. The wall had a hole behind the door. Although the room smelled like PineSol, it was as clean as it was gonna get. With that said, athough I had reservations because looks are important to me and I was afraid to sleep in the sheets, I did and nothing bad occured.

Broken furniture, flooring, air conditioner. The room had one ceiling light near the window. The room was very dark. I was not expecting much in the first place but it was worse than that. However, the staff were wonderful and helpful.
