The Monterey Hotel

Needs a good cleaning. Need 2 screens in room 222. Need windows and screens cleaned Fun location, lots nearby

This is an old classic hotel and as such has its charm and a fantastic location. However, it could need some freshening up. The floor carpets are unpleasant looking and there is no AC. Monterey weather allows for keeping windows open, the local seagulls do not. I did appreciate them allowing dogs though.

A solid hotel for the price. A great location to access everything you want in Monterey.

Great location great stay but it is a bit loud due to the street noise.

Our room was hot and I don’t believe they had air conditioning. It was a good location but could be better for the price.

I have stayed at The Monterey Hotel several times and enjoyed everything about the place. I look forward to coming back.

Small rooms, thin walls.

No idea how the building was. Booked it during Monterey car week we had no idea no info on their website about it or nothing. Only thing it was on our itinerary which said Tuesday was a a local event we were there on Friday. We decided not to stay there because the street was lined with people and cars and it was impossible to get to. I was told when I called asking about this they had no parking and to park in their loading dock to unload and then go find parking. I told them how ridiculous this was and I had to fight two days to get my money back from the room we rented. Staff was friendly enough but also with a little bit of passive aggression. If your there for the nightlife of down town it seems to be nice as it’s walking distance to what seemed most places in down town.

Clean room very nice basic hotel but there is no parking available and location is pretty good. No connections for charging or modern amenities in the room small space

The room was clean. The fan didn’t work properly. But I would stay there again. Great location.

Location was good Noise from room above interrupted my sleep. People climbing up and down the stairs. Need more insulation or better carpeting to absorb the noise from footsteps!

Location is good. Rooms are small, hot, outdated, and in need of repair.

There is the updated side of the building and historic side. We had a room in the historic side and it was a charming room. If you would love to stay in a historic hotel. This is the spot.

The area is very walkable, however it wasn’t made clear that there was no general parking available which made for a very stressful arrival. But once we arrived it was absolutely wonderful! The staff was great!

The happy hour they had was nice and being so close to Canary Row and Aquarium as well as being within walking distance of restaurants.

Room was excellent but no a/c. Carpets in common areas need thorough cleaning.
