Canal Loft Hotel

My coworker & I stay there often; The location is convenient (train, restaurants, shopping), the staff is pleasant & professional, the rooms & bathrooms are clean (sometimes the soap & shampoo dispensers need to be refilled). Roku TV, iron & board, some rooms have fridge & microwave.

Zero amenities, awful customer service convenience, but Ketchy neighborhood, rude and unhelpful staff

Si bien la habitación no tenía tantos detalles de decoración si tenía mucho espacio, A/C. Tenía elevador lo cual se aprecia luego de pasar todo el día caminando. La ubicación es excelente, fue muy seguro incluso a altas horas de la noche. Lo recomendaría si viajas y planeas estar más tiempo fuera del hotel y dándole menor presupuesto al hospedaje. El personal fue amable, nos dejaron guardar las cosas antes del check in y después del check out, Hay estaciones de subway con las líneas B y F muy cerca y con buena conectividad al resto de la ciudad.

I had a 2-day work assignment downtown and decided to spend the night in the city. After walking from the work location, I took one look at the outside and determined that the hotel looked so sketchy that I opted to go home instead. Forfeiting the money was a lesson learned: I should have checked out the reviews first.

It was clean and quiet , I enjoyed my stay.

Avoid at all costs! The room was infested with bugs and cockroaches, with filthy pillows, and the lift had no lights. The staff was extremely rude. Their "luggage storage" is just bags left in the main lobby next to reception, but the staff never checks who takes what, so anyone can walk off with your luggage. Furthermore, if you choose the "Pay Later" option, expect staff to message you on WhatsApp with suspicious links, trying to force payment outside of Booking.com - after which you'll start receiving other scam messages. To make matters worse, the hotel will deny everything, claiming they never contact guests outside Booking and insisting they had a pest control inspection.

Good value for a budget hotel. Clean but outdated. Good location.

The place was not very safe. There were people going to the bathroom, like homeless people. the first room they gave me, the bathroom didn’t have the seat for the toilet

The photos online are certainly... optimistic. I'm not entirely sure when they were taken, but my best guess is sometime around the Clinton administration. The room bears only a passing resemblance to the listing and looks more like the setting of a Law & Order episode, specifically the part before the detectives arrive. The front desk experience was... memorable. The receptionist managed the impressive feat of being technically helpful while making it feel like we were inconveniencing her by existing. Every interaction felt like being scolded by a substitute teacher who'd already decided she didn't like the class. Requests weren't exactly welcomed, and flexibility was apparently against company policy. As for luggage storage, there isn't any. Instead, you're invited to leave your bags in the middle of the foyer and place your faith in humanity -- and in the receptionist keeping an eye on them. Fortunately, as we all know, theft has never been a problem in New York City. One thing I will say: the hotel absolutely nails the authentic Chinatown atmosphere. The pungent smell of the front desk staff's lunch greets you long before any member of staff does. Now, to be fair, it wasn't all bad. Once expectations were adjusted to match reality rather than the booking photos, the stay itself was perfectly manageable. The bed was comfortable, the shower was hot, and we slept well. At the end of the day, that's worth something.

This is a perfect place for Canal street shopping just about 3 blocks away. Staff was great. The place is a little dated in places. No TV or phone in our room but I did not check and see if one was listed for the room. Regardless with all the walking all we wanted to do was sleep. Neighborhood was a bit noisy that's expected for new york though

The room itself is very clean. There are no extras, but I was happy with the room. The entry to the hotel itself wasn't great, but once I saw the room, I was fine.
