$50 to park your car a day is ridiculous. Urban Destination fees should be included for the price of the room.

House keeper did not speak English and did not leave coffee or have the room cleaned by 3:30 on a Wednesday...not a busy hotel day. Pool is indoors and not ventilfated at all, $50 per day to park and only valet just lots of add ons here and there.

The staff was great. We had a short stay thankfully because we also had a skylight in the room!!! What the heck? Get rid of that damn thing or just rent the room to college kids that don’t sleep. To make matters worse, it seemed like there roof mounted lights illuminating the room. We could literally read a newspaper or book at 2am with all the lights off. I’m sorry but never again for us and we stay in Newport often.

Great experience

Had a lovely stay at the Viking Hotel. They were able to accommodate early check in for us and the room was beautiful and very clean. We had drinks in the lobby bar and we loved it and also got coffee in the morning from their coffee shop inside the hotel. Would love to stay here again!

staff friendly and obliging great location very comfortable beds the bathroom was not big enough! our view was dreadful--- opened the curtains and our view was another roof top with equipment. at breakfast the other 5 meals were delivered and mine was forgotten and by the time I got my meal, the others were long finished.

Building is very unique and historic… courtyard was lovely! Rooftop was beautiful at sundown too!

Biggest takeaway that match with the previous comments: Staff is just not good. There is clearly a leadership problem. From the valet, to check-in to the young team serving coffee everyone missed the beat on customer service. The building needs attention our room was small, the AC did not work and the shower door is broken. The final blow, they overcharged us with fees for food we never ordered.

The staff was amazing and very helpful

Location was excellent. Many restaurants and bars within walking distance. Food at the hotel restaurant, Pescadou, was amazing! Would definitely return!

Lots to walk to nearby, museum, shops, the harbor, a park to walk dog-etc. I really liked that there were several dog friendly places. "Picnic" across from hotel had great breakfast sandwiches, bagel, lattes etc. sand

Very nice property.

We have been staying at the Hotel Viking for many years now, even had a room block here for our wedding a few years ago. However, this change in ownership gravely disappointed us. The room rates are triple what they used to be, and the “renovations” they did are pretty much lipstick on a pig. The main lobby/restaurants didn’t need to be updated, the cafe stopped selling bagels and their coffees are smaller and overpriced now. Our door handle fell off as we were closing the door and had to switch rooms - we saw two additional rooms with broken handles while there! We stayed there a week - on multiple days there was loud drilling/construction noises coming from above our room. One night we called down for new water glasses, as we had used ours and the cleaning staff hadn’t replaced them in two days - they never showed up with the glasses that night. The beds were hard as rocks, didn’t sleep well. The AC thermostat says “65”, when it’s absolutely not that cold in the room - they provided us a box fan to use at night. Also, the new thermostats are digital LED screens that do not turn off - so it is a bright light all night long. We had to put a towel over it to cover the light, ridiculous no one realized this when designing the rooms. Also, the bathrooms are updated, but the shower door doesn’t stay closed! It is a sliding glass door, when you slide it shut, it just slides back a few inches letting water escape and cold air in. This happened in two different rooms.

The room was immaculately clean and had beautiful finishings. It was compact but efficient. The bed was extremely comfortable and made up for the odd bathroom sink situation. The front desk lady named Marina was very kind and helpful. The valet staff were top-notch. We enjoyed the historical vibe at the hotel.

Great location and nicely renovated

Well, the property is itself as beautiful, the hotel was extremely shortstaffed. I realize it was a holiday weekend with several weddings, but the wait to check in, the response time of staff, was very long. The bathroom sink was tiny and had a shelf above it, making it impossible to brush your teeth or do anything else at the sink. Also, room service dining is a standard at a higher end hotel.

Good location. Bathrooms were way too small. Couldn’t even brush your teeth or turn the water on bc shelf above the sink blocked it. Also had to step over the bed frame to get out of one side of the bed. No space between A/C and end of bed. Use of space not good. Totally over priced for what you get. No water in room, no turn down service, no extra white glove service for price. Bare minimum

Couldn’t call for towels so texted the link they sent to ask for anything you need. Funny. I had to go to front desk, no phone. They said they were too busy and missed my text Maid came at 3 pm. There were guess getting ready in hallway because they had no mirror in bathroom. Staff was befuddled. I’ll stop there.

Bathroom is unusable can't even brush your teeth in that sink. Staff is poorly trained attemted to sit down for breakfast and was advised i need to join a wait list for an empty restroom because they are Short staffed !!
