Park on church street for free or $50 a day for the car

Beautiful hotel, with everything you could need.

Our first time staying overnight in Newport! We had a wonderful stay at the Viking Hotel -from being greeted by valet crew daily to a rooftop bar and everything in between! Conveniently located to downtown Newport and Mansions; I highly recommend staying here!

From start to finish the service was beyond incredible!

The pool was also outdated and the water looked muddy, so we didn't even go in. Overall, the location was fantastic, and they did a good job at renovating but would not stay again due to the lack of hospitality/care.

Restaurants are excellent. Lovely historic vibe. Nicely updated room.

Marina Ambrose at the front desk is a gem. She was unfailingly helpful. The room AC was very noisy and interfered with sleep. The chairs in the breakfast room were vey uncomfortable. It was like pulling teeth to get heavy cream. The room cleaners had NO English

Air conditioning went out during a heatwave and the front desk kept giving us the runaround. It was 85 degrees in our room and wasn’t safe for my baby to sleep there.

We loved walking to town and free parking on the side street. Lovely place.

I should have asked for an alternative room. I was pretty disappointed.

This is our third stay and our last. If you book via Expedia, you get the least desirable room, every time. This year there was a persistent motor noise coming from above our room that prevented us from sleeping. We asked the front desk, they sent maintenance and never got back to us and denied our request to move rooms. We had to sleep with head phones on. The hot tub was a brown/green color and smelled like sulphur. Kinda crazy considering the price.

If you aspire to be a luxury hotel, your coffee amenities shouldn’t be the crappy poison they have at HJo’s. The hot water ran out. The hair dryer was broken.

Really beautiful hotel and property , staff was efficient and accommodating to our special trip. We had a room on the main floor which was updated very tastefully with a view of the courtyard and fire pit area. Bar had a really cool vibe inside the hotel and The rooftop bar was also nice with a great view. Only down side was the bed was a little uncomfortable and you could hear the people above us. Other wise would definitely recommend staying here and will be coming back on our return to Newport !

Our room had multiple maintenance issues, including several non-working electrical sockets, very slow draining shower with a pool of water collecting taking over 10 hours to drain, and signs of ants. Although maintenance attended, only one socket was repaired, and despite reporting the other issues, we were told the hotel was full and that the issues were addressed. To make matters worse, we were incorrectly charged for parking that we never used. Our travelling companion, who had a separate booking, was also charged for parking, including an additional vehicle that didn't even belong to them. While the incorrect charges were eventually refunded after numerous phone calls, emails and persistence, there was no apology or acknowledgement—just an updated folio emailed to us and this was the response from the manager to our travelling companions. Problems can occur at any hotel, but it's how they're handled that matters. Unfortunately, the lack of communication, poor customer service and inaccurate billing mean we would not stay here again.
