Courtyard by Marriott Norfolk Downtown

The staff weren’t at the desk often, we called several times and no one answered. Or took a long time to pick up. We didn’t get the right room at first. And it would have been great to know the pool was closed before booking bc that’s something we expected for our kids, they were super upset. The lobby was sooo hot it felt like the ac wasn’t working at all!!!

Perfect place to stay except for noisy guests being to loud to late

The room was clean, staff was outstandingly helpful. It was quiet. The only thing that was disappointing was that the food courtyard was closed throughout my stay. Otherwise, I will definitely stay there again.

Nice size room and the bed was comfortable and the staff was very friendly and the location was great The TV was small should have been bigger

The hotel is in an excellent location. The rooms are not cleaned every day. I was told that they are cleaned every two days. The Wi-Fi was not working for a full day. At the end of my stay, I requested an invoice, but I was told that since I had already paid in advance through Booking.com, they could not provide me with one. In short, I would not stay there again.

The pool and hot tub were not open. My room hair in the shower. Paint chips on the walls. Out of shampoo and body wash. The bistro was never open at dinner nor the bar. They only had about half of the breakfast available. The staff though was very friendly and nice.

Exceptional

The Hotel was very old, not that it could be updated. Only has one elevator that was work. The ice machine didn't have any ice. To be honest I would not have stayed in this hotel. It needs to be updated.

Everything’s good

The valet parking was $25 and the only other choice was to park across the street in a not so great neighborhood. I selected to pay the valet and then just uber to the concert I was going to and it was worth it. Also the pool and hot tube out of order.

The location was good. Room smelled misty, body wash container was empty,carpet was frayed, stain on bathroom door and bathtub was old. Found a bonnet from previous guests on the floor. Upon check in, was given the wrong room and had to go back downstairs because the key did not work. The pool was closed.

we decided to stay at this location because they had a indoor pool and hot tub. We arrived and wanted take a swim and was notified that the pool, hot tub, and Ice machine wasn't working . We were on the 7th floor and had to go to the main level whenever we needed ice. There was no manager on duty and the receptionist didn't have any authority to make any concessions. very unsatisfied with our stay.

The room was fine. We had one with a king-sized bed and a twin sofa bed. We had to ask for sheets for the sofa bed as they were not in the room. I asked the front desk about recycling, and she pointed me to a dumpster outside the property, but that was for trash and not recycling. It was disappointing to stay somewhere that did not have recycling bins on each floor at the very least. There was no complimentary coffee in the lobby. For what we spent on our room, I would have expected more ameneties. The breakfast would have been $20 per person, so we opted to eat elsewhere.

The room had lights not working the smell was of mold and who knows what else. Turned on the shower and water sprayed everywhere from the connection. Ceiling showed damage of some sort that was not repaired correctly, rusted through areas in the door frames. The wet bar area had obvious water damage that needed work. Some areas of the room had been touched up but to the bare minimum. Stains in the carpet and would not want to guess the last time any had been vacuumed. The furniture did not match and was just not good and very old and showed it. It is obvious that the hotel is on the downward spiral. Should just be sold and take the name of Marriott off if it as this hotel damages the brand name.

The location is the only positive that I can pull from this experience, the Airport and downtown areas are very accessible. Overall the property is dated, the elevators were down for the entire stay, our shower was broken and spewed water when turned on ( the maintenance staff did handle it in a timely manner the next day), there was a busted pipe in the garage, the ceiling was leaking by the front desk and there was a funny smell by the freight elevator that we had to use the entire three night stay. Also bear in mind that there is no free parking options, you can use city parking at a cheaper rate but the hotel valet service is 25.00 a night. My wife travels a lot for work and uses the Marriott properties almost exclusively, this property does not meet the Marriott standard that we are accustomed too.

Glad they got the elevator fixed. Nice people but limited breakfast and dinner options. Also, not good that they don't use cash, only credit cards or charge it to the room.

Location Noisy. Broken elevators, no continental breakfast.
