Courtyard by Marriott Norfolk Downtown

Carpet in room was sticky, room was warm and AC was not cooling. Pillows were great and soft. Great location, MacArthur Mall closed weekend before we arrived... Having to pay for parking, not so great.

One of the 2 elevators did not work. The fire door to the stairs had a section missing around the latch. The A/C in the lobby was marginal at best, however worked well in the room. The toilet flush valve is very strange and inconsistent. We attempted breakfast at the Bistro in the lobby, but gave up after waiting 5 minutes.

Parking was no secure. My room was not clean, no soap in the shower, blood drippings on sheet and comforter, faucet was leaking, carpet was not vacuumed, cookies in the corner. Bathtub was not clean. The television would not cut off and volume kept elevating. I did not get any sleep. We are so disappoi. Speeding our first year anniversary like this was so disappointing.

They need to work on the parking. When returning from an event, I had to wait close to an hour for the valet to get to me because he was the only one on shift and had to move several cars to get our car in. His name is Alex so I end up getting in my room late from the event, but everything else worked out well.

All the ice makers we’re broken, there was no house keeping and front desk was not at all hospitable

Good location

The hotel is in a great location, within walking distance of many restaurants and local shops. The hotel staff was friendly. A few issues we experienced, there was only one working elevator during the duration of our stay; the pool door was broken, making it inaccessible until we notified staff.

Electrical outlets in the room were worn out or didn’t work at all. Walls were patch painted. Server at the bistro in the lobby really had a poor attitude and you could tell she didn’t want to be there. ( Although that’s the same attitude we encountered from servers all weekend) For the money stay somewhere else.

Room could be updated. Air did not work properly.

Very old and dated. Door lock did not work properly. Te sofa bed had no linen and the hotel had no staff to bring me linen. I had to go retrieve it myself

The Norfolk Hotel is poorly managed and overdue for renovation. The large lobby air conditioning has not worked in over a year per the staff. The bistro Cafe was closed to to broken equipment. The paint was peeling in the bathroom where previous water leaks had been. My room was on cleaned 1 time for a 3 night visit. No free coffee in common areas as advertised. Hallway carpets were covered in stains. For $715 per night I was extremely disappointed. Avoid this hotel at all cost.

Location was very good. Room needed better care ... Chipped paint in places. The carpet seems old and worn. The toilet was small. The shower did not work very well - it leaked from the faucet. Small coffee maker - it worked ok. No restaurant in the hotel... Just a cafe.

The location was great, the staff was friendly, professional great. Only one elevator working

A/C was great!

Front staff was friendly. Black out curtains. Bad smell the moment you enter the room. Bathroom not clean with piss splash around the toilet, and hair all over the floor. Light switch cover broken. Some plug ins for electronics broken. Room wasn't available until 5pm and did not get the room I booked. Rooms are not sound proof as I could hear conversations from room next door and all the traffic outside.

Initial check in staff were helpful & polite, after that, customer service was subpar. Hotel/rooms were clean, bathrooms could use MAJOR UPDATES! But all in all, sufficient for our 1 night stay. Location is great!

The check in process was seamless. The young lady at the desk was so polite and helpful. The bartender was amazing!!!! I didn’t like the whole parking situation but it is what it is. It was valet only or park in a public parking garage away from the hotel. The room had a weird musty smell to it but it was very clean.

They dont have parking, only vallet. Its extra.

Staff and parking was great. The room had a leaking faucet and was not able to move into a new room because it was booked.

While nice as it is, there are some simple upgrades that would be appreciated. The closet door being gone but the track in the floor still there and very dust-covered is a definite eye sore and makes you feel less confident about the level of clean the room really is.
