Butterfly Grove Inn

This was a spacious 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom room and was by far our favorite. Beautiful skylights in both bathrooms that let in lots of natural light. The front bedroom has a cozy fireplace. The primary bathroom has a separate vanity/sink area from the toilet and tub/shower room. The second bathroom has a walk-in stall shower. The windows appear to be newer, open easily, and have screens. Overall, this room felt comfortable, well maintained, and updated. Room 30 – Average ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ This is a single-room accommodation in the Victorian house at the rear of the property. One bathroom with the sink/shower area separated from the toilet/tub by a half wall. It wasn't nearly as nice as Room 18. There was a slight "old house" odor—not overwhelming, but noticeable. The windows do not open and do not have screens. Overall Property The property made a very good impression overall. Clean rooms and fresh, comfortable linens. General cleanliness was excellent. Maintenance was good (I'd rate it about 8.5/10—mostly minor paint touch-ups and cosmetic items). Parking directly outside the room was a huge convenience. Ice machine was nearby and worked well. The pool is conveniently located across from the rooms. The grounds are attractive and well kept. Every front desk employee we encountered was friendly and welcoming. I'd gladly stay here again—I'd just request Room 18 (or something similar) next time.

Property is a little dated but very clean and very quiet. Beds are comfortable and rooms are spacious. Very convenient to beaches, food, hiking etc. Parking was difficult though.

We had a large, clean spacious room with fireplace and an overhead fan. The bed was comfortable but a little too soft for my back issues. Other people might think differently. The location was very close to downtown but at the same time it was very quiet. The pool was located a distance from our room so the noise was not bothersome.

Room 18 - 2bd/2ba Two TVs Fireplace Mini fridge Microwave Coffee pot with coffee packets (NOT good) Plenty of mini soaps, makeup remover wipes, tp, etc Towels were nice Ceiling fan in each room Parking right outside the room Pool is nice Would def stay here again.

For improvement, I would recommend that management ensures that the rooms are well stacked with clean towels. I found that only two sets of towels were in my view in adequate. And that to make sure that all the functions are working within the room. Our fireplace was not working at all except for the fan. But I do say on the plus side it was a very quiet neighborhood. My granddaughter loved the pool and the hot tub. And it was central to lovers point Beach and to the Monterey Bay aquarium.

Parking is a little tight but right next to the room which was very nice.

Beautiful area, great for little kids to walk to the park or walk around the butterfly grove.

Very peaceful place to stay if you do not want the hustle and bussel of traffic and people. I would definately stay there again.

Exceptional

We enjoyed our stay at the Butterfly grove inn. It was my wife, my self and our two dogs. The grounds are well kept and the decor is very charming. The room was clean and well kept, a little dated but served our purpose. A glade plug in would go a long way.

The room was very big and comfortable, with a gas fireplace, and very near the pool and hot tub. We had stayed at the Butterfly Grove a few years before, but we attended a wedding so that kept us busy and away from the hotel. This time, we got to use the pool and hot tub and had a great time with the kids, and other kids staying at the property, and the whole atmosphere there is very relaxed and enjoyable. Coffee service could start before 8, as one frequently wakes up earlier than usual when away from home, but that's not a serious setback as there are coffee makers, plus refrigerators and microwaves in the rooms. You have to drive to get breakfast, and there are a bunch of good cafes and restaurants within a mile or so to choose from.

Overall my stay was wonderful. The hotel is a little run down but it has a charming quaintness that I loved about it. We stayed during the off season for the monarchs so we didn't get to see why butterflies but I'm sure that in prime season I would have given 5 stars. If you like a cottagey quaint vibe I recommend staying here.
