I had booked a room with two queen beds months in advance, but shortly before our stay I was notified that, due to hotel renovations, that room type was no longer available. Since I was traveling with a group of teenagers for a concert, having separate sleeping arrangements was important. To make matters even more stressful, I was dealing with this rebooking immediately after returning from a nightmare trip where our car had been stolen, so my stress level was already through the roof. The Guest Services team could not have handled the situation any better. They were incredibly responsive, kind, and genuinely empathetic. They worked with me to find excellent alternative accommodations that met our needs, and when we arrived, they had left a bottle of wine and fresh cookies waiting in our room. It was such a thoughtful gesture and exactly the kind of kindness that makes a lasting impression. While our stay was short, the level of care and professionalism we experienced was exceptional. Thank you to the Guest Services team (esp Katy Wolfe) for going above and beyond during a particularly stressful week. Your compassion and attention to detail did not go unnoticed.

It might end up being a very nice hotel in the future, but we booked a reservation at the beginning of June when it was still Renaissance Pittsburgh Hotel and didn’t get an email that told us that the name was changed until a few days before our trip on 6/28. When we got there for our check in we didn’t realize that they had done a renovation and in our opinion THEY RUSHED THE REOPENING. The poor bar staff didn’t have time to acclimate themselves to anything, and the day we got there they didn’t have enough staff for the bar. One bartender/server for everyone in the bar plus anyone that chose to sit at more comfortable conversation areas out in the lobby. We were told by the front desk about in the morning we could come down and get it lattes or cappuccinos, but then in the morning when we did go down there they said that that machine wasn’t working yet. The bathroom was beautiful, but I did notice long dark hair on the floor, which was not mine. We were going to do the self park which is the garage directly across the street, but there was a Pirates game going on so it was full so we had to pay for valet.

Very clean facility. Wish there was a microwave or some other option to heat up food in the room.

Staff was terrific! Great location. Clean and large room. Would stay here again.

Marriott changed the name of the hotel to Atterbury the day of check in. They informed us the night before. The systems were down and we were not able to check in until after 5pm. This was problematic considering our plans centered around the Pirates game. Renovations seem to be happening in most of the common areas of the hotel. Upon arrival staff was dismissive and not helpful at all.

Our experience at the Renaissance Hotel was disappointing. The staff was rude and unprofessional, which made us feel unwelcome throughout our stay. Customer service is a major part of the guest experience, and unfortunately, my interactions with staff did not meet expectations. In addition, several advertised amenities were unavailable during my stay. Had I known these amenities would not be accessible, I may have chosen a different hotel. Guests should be informed in advance when services or amenities are unavailable. Overall, the lack of customer service and unavailable amenities made for a frustrating experience. I hope management addresses these issues to improve the experience for future guests.

I love this hotel, but not happy charging me full price while under serious renovation 😒

  • Engine customer Jun 2026

friendly and extremely helpful. There was a lot going on in Pittsburgh especially in the area of the hotel but the valet attendants were on top of everything and quick. Breakfast was amazing too!

As of 6/2/26 Hotel is under construction and offers only breakfast, no bar or other dining. Property is scaffold and occupied by work crews with loud machinery. Very disappointed not to be alerted of this prior to booking.

  • Engine customer Jun 2026

Worst hotel experience. They are under construction. The lobby is a mess. There are workmen all over. Alarms were going off. The room is old fashioned and lacks modern technology. All of this and they charged full price and didn’t bother to tell you that there was chaos and inconvenience.

Great place to stay in Pittsburgh. Beautiful old building that has lots of updates in the rooms. Spacious bathroom, comfortable bed, and convenient outlets. The bar was under construction.
