The hotel was quaint, cozy and comfortable and in a walkable charming neighborhood. The staff were very responsive to texted questions and requests. It was a very enjoyable stay.
-
Nice room in a great neighborhood. I thought I’d spend more time downtown, but preferred the restaurants and activities in the immediate area.

Awesome place for the deal!

Can't beat the location or charm of this beautiful, historic property!

The property is a rehabbed luxury home from the late 1800s or early 1900s--probably the home of a Pittsburgh robber baron. There is no staff. We arrived about 2:00 P.M. and found an individual working in the restaurant kitchen who was able to get us to our room. The room was unique and only 34 stairs up a very old and steep staircase. The room had a window above the door that could not be shaded or blocked. As a consequence, the hall light made sleep almost impossible. I was also concerned about fire safety because there is only a single staircase--in the event of a fire, the staircase would be impossible to use. The concept of converting a luxury robber-baron antique home into a hotel is intriguing. Sadly, the concept failed miserably at this location.

Additionally, the bathroom faucet was inconvenient to use. The water would not continue running on its own, requiring us to hold the handle the entire time to get water. Once released, the water would immediately shut off, which made basic tasks in the bathroom unnecessarily difficult.

If ever there was a hotel to be described as antique, this would be it. Old and creaky, but charming. This was a great boutique hotel experience worth trying out. And the Cigar Bar was a nice addition.

Great service! The ladies at the bar were fantastic and had great recommendations. The food was out of this world at the hotel.

Amazing place!

We got there on Memorial Day only to discover our room had been booked by them and Booking.com for the next night. No apologies from anyone until they were shamed for not helping us find other accommodation, so we had to drive 8 hours back home (after already being on the road for 8 hours!) in severe thunderstorms. Totally classless, not to mention they kept our money for the room. Absolutely everything! Horrible experience with no customer service. Once they get your money you are on your own.

We enjoyed our stay at the Villagio. The room was nicely appointed and maintained. Perfect walking distance to PNC Park for a ballgame. Parking is included which, was a major plus!

The hotel is in a walkable neighborhood close to a variety of attractions and restaurants. The bathroom was a huge disappointment. The sink required holding the water on like in a public restroom and there was no stopper to fill the sink. I was unable to shave. There weren’t decaf coffee pods nor tea options.

Nothing. Parking lot is too small to maneuver if you have a large vehicle. Room was drafty and cold. I used to space heater that was in the closet. Restaurant noise does not end until after 10:30. Bathroom sink requires you to hold both the hot and cold knobs in the open position, so that water can run into the plugged sink, which is chipped and rusty. I was told this is all to reflect the Victorian era during which the building was built, but I really don't think the Victorians had anything to do with having to hold the knobs and therefore not be able to put your hands under running water. And the hot water knob was broken. I was theu received no report of this. (Umm, didn't i just say it?) The place is full of old tired looking furniture and chipped paint. I was told each room is furnished in the spirit of a different italian city. Nope, it's just tired old furniture from any average furniture store. The bed linens had a heavy scent on them, which made it difficult to sleep, and made me itchy. I was told they understand that their hotel isn't for everyone, but i think most people do expect to sleep when they get a room. The bed was quite uncomfortable. The bartender didn't say thank you when I tipped her. Next time i'll skip the "charm" and spend a little extra on a professionally manged hotel.
