The Francis

Location is good. Rooms are nice, modern, very clean. Breakfast was not great and monotonous for a 3 day stay. The staff over communicated in my opinion by text which some people might feel is good, but I found a bit fatiguing.

Very nice historic building. Renewable and comfortable. We didn’t get breakfast because it wasn’t available until after 830 am and we had an earlier flight. Also the coffee service was nice but for those who like cream it was a little lacking as there was none provided. The minibar was fun and unique with great treats and Maine made items. The gym at the sister hotel was fantastic but not available for early morning workout but over all a nice stay. Really ideal for a laidback traveler

Very friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is just opposite Longfellow and offers a very family like atmosphere. Enjoyed our stay a lot

A small family-owned hotel in an historic building in downtown Portland. Spacious and comfortable rooms, good beds, good AC, parking. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Excellent choice to stay in downtown Portland.

Beautiful room, helpful staff, wonderful environment, easy parking. Somewhat of a walk to get to downtown area, but we drive our car.

The hotel room was clean and spacious, and comfy. Staff were super friendly, welcoming and helpful. Location was good too. Loved the vintage vibe and the breakfast sandwich's.

We had a really lovely stay at The Francis. The building itself is beautiful and has so much character, but still feels really comfortable and updated. Our room was clean, cozy, and thoughtfully done. The staff was genuinely kind and helpful without being over the top. It’s in a great spot, easy to get everywhere but still quiet at night. I’d definitely come back.

The location was amazing because we were going out for dinner and to a show at the state theater. The employees that we worked with were super helpful and pleasant. Loved having on site parking! The yogurt parfait, while much appreciated, was gross. I had really been looking forward to the coupon for breakfast at tandem

It was right in the Deering Historic district. Restaurants were right there. I thought the rooms 001-004 on the bottom floor felt a little like too far away from the rest of the hotel and like *kinda* sketchy with a door to the outside there.

The staff were beyond helpful and friendly! The room was very comfortable and outfitted with nice amenities, and the location was perfect for what we had planned to do in Portland. The shower grout needed some bleaching and the hair dryer was broken…pretty minor things on the whole.

The hotel was conveniently located 1 1/2 miles from old Port and the waterfront. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. The staff was friendly and responsive. There were some night touches such as mold cider in the lobby for guests to help themselves, as well as ready-made coffee in the morning and a light breakfast delivered to your room each morning. There was also a sitting room with a gas fireplace.

The Francis is an easy walk to anything in downtown Portland and to the waterfront. It's easy to find, and the free parking is a real plus. Inside this stately brick building are beautifully appointed rooms that are immaculate. The beds are so comfortable. The place is loaded with character, and the staff are fabulous. Nothing. Literally zero.
