Hotel being remodeled

The staff was excellent and very helpful and knowledgeable. The property was under construction but it was still clean . Our room was clean and the air conditioning was on thank goodness due to it was over a 100 degrees outside.

Great place, will stay again.

Front desk was amazing. Super helpful with directions and dining suggestions. Saved a bag of ice for our cooler. Otherwise the hotel is undergoing construction.

Staff are nice and friendly

The Anchorage Inn, as far as we could tell, saw itself in a niche with accommodations like Days Inn and Travelodge. With this in mind, I'll attempt a fair review. The price, for a room 1.5 miles from downtown Portsmouth, NH, was certainly reasonable. The front desk was always staffed, and staffers were generally well-informed and helpful. When we arrived the room appeared to be vacuumed and tidied and sheets and towels appeared to be fresh. The room's essential features--shower, faucet, TV, electrical outlets, AC, and so on--worked mostly as expected. The room was quiet enough--despite the proximity of I-195--and private. Now, the downsides. One irritation was not being permitted to store luggage behind the front desk for a few hours after check-out--which struck me as a minor favor to have granted, and one that would have greatly helped us. Being without a car, generally, we had to walk or ride 1.5 miles every single time we wanted to sight-see--or get back to the room, for any reason at all. Also, the Anchorage Inn was physically quite dreary, with public spaces worn and stained and appearing distinctly "low rent." We lasted there for 3 nights in mid-June.

My room was clean and tidy, with plenty of the expected accouterments in the bathroom. The staff was friendly and helpful, and there was ample parking. Unfortunately, they were working on the property, so there was no breakfast as of 6/25/26. They did have a coffee and vending machine. It's proximity to plenty of restaurants was a big draw for me. I will be staying again.

The gentleman who checked us in was very helpful and friendly. He went out of his way to give us all of the information about the area. He is a great asset to your inn.

The elevator was clunky and the carpets were stained in the room and at the main entrance. The beds were stiff and uncomfortable.

I chose this particular hotel over others in the area because of the lower cost with good reviews. Right off the main highway, the hotel is literally in front of you. Check-in was very easy, and front desk attendant was extremely personable & helpful. He whipped out a map and explained everything we needed to know about the town and how to get around. We didn't get info on breakfast at the hotel, but we figured we'd be going out for meals. Hallways seem to be in transition with updates plus construction of a new wing, so it was a little unkempt. The elevator (hotel has only 3 floors) was clunky and made noises, snack & ice machine was out of order, and the hallways are a little out of date. But as you enter your room, it seems like a whole different world: Everything was clean and in order. The beds are comfortable, the sheets and blankets are thick & soft. The usual amenities are there: big screen TV, writing desk, waste baskets with clean liners, coffeemaker, etc. The air conditioning was not noisy and kept the room at a great temperature throughout our stay. The bathroom was very clean, and there were minimal complimentary toiletries, but definitely enough for our needs. The shower had an excellent pressure spray! And I was very impressed with the little fridge as it was one of the only ones I've ever experienced that keeps food cold; it was also pretty tall and held a lot of food if we needed to.

Super dirty carpet, quite rundown. Renovations are in progress but, WOW. Families live in the hotel, if that tells you anything you anything. Tom, however, at the front desk was super friendly and helpful, brought ice to our room, and gave a great breakfast recommendation. A Friendly Toast is only five minutes away and is an awesome breakfast spot. Prepare for a short wait.

This place is so run down and not taken care of and Terrible. Couldn’t get out fast enough

If you're looking to be pampered, you can go somewhere else and pay a bunch more money. If you're looking for a comfortable room at a reasonable rate, then this is the place for you. It is undergoing some renovations, so it's appearance is less than ideal. But the staff are very nice, and my room was a decent size and was quite comfortable. They have room coffee available and well as a 24-hour coffee machine in the lobby. I will most likely stay here again in the future.

Check in was great and the gentlemen who helped us was more than friendly and helpful. Sorry I didn't get his name. There are renovations going on at the time we stayed there but didn't effect our stay too much. No breakfast is available but they do have a coffee maker in the lobby that also makes iced coffee. Location was good and not too far from a lot of shopping stores and restaurants. It is walking distant if you go the back road. Safe area. The only complaint was we stayed 3 nights and not once did cleaning come and empty garbage or replace towels, soap, cups etc. There was no issues when we brought down our dirty towels to get them replaced though.

It was a great room but the hotel was being remodeled The room was nice
-
Clean hotel with friendly staff. Nothing special in terms of amenities, but a great spot if you're looking for an inexpensive room.
-
The entire place was disgusting. The only good thing was the air conditioner in the room worked well. The floor had dirt in all the corners. The bathroom had a dirty razor in it. The shower had hair in the drain. The wall was peeling and it smelled horrible. Major construction happening and they wake you up early in the morning

Lots of construction, which may just be short-term
