MainStay Suites Rapid City

The rooms appeared to have been redone in the last couple years, which was nice. Unfortunately, after checking in, we found dirty dishes in our dishwasher and the front desk attendant didn't think that was a big deal. She told us where the dishwasher soap was, but would’ve been nice to have been moved to a clean room. We did not travel hundreds of miles to do somebody else’s dishes. And no apology was offered for putting us in a room with dirty dishes. We will probably look for other accommodations next time we are in town.

We booked a king size room with a kitchenette. There were only a few dishes which were not sufficient to make meals throughout the week. There was only 1 large plate, 1 small plate, one bowl and a few pots and pans and utensils. The bathroom fan did not turn off - there was no switch for it. Our refrigerator made loud noises at times which made it difficult to sleep. There were not extra towels in the room but when asked, staff provided them. Overall staff were friendly. The location is great for going north or south to explore South Dakota. Parking was ample. Continental breakfast area was nice but not a lot of options.

The poor girl ar reception was at a loss on what to do as the manager was gone. She did hive us air freshener to use (didn't help much). We also needed soap as there was none in the room . It was late and did not want to try for another hotel as we needed to get up at 4am. We went back to the room and the toilet was broken so we had to manually make the flapper work. The day we got home I emailed the company for a refund and was offered 10,000 points that I could use for another stay. The room was $183.00 and the points would be between $40 and 60. I wonder how they would feel if it was their family member having to sleep in a room that smelled like sewer.

Nice hotel in convenient location

Great stay! We loved the size of the room, very large! Easy parking, restaurant and gas nearby was a plus. There was no shampoo, conditioner, and soap provided, and the bathtub is very slippery, but those would be the only downside of our stay.

Loved having a kitchen. Very friendly staff and such a comfortable place.

Was downgraded from a king to a queen but wasn’t told at check in. Went to room, saw a queen, called front desk with no answer. Took all our stuff back to front desk to have the clerk tell me we were downgraded. No apology. Gave me the business card of the manager and said to take it up with him.

Not much to say besides it was just ok. Could use some updating and a fresh coat of paint on the walls a lot of the walls looked rough/dirty. Staff didn't say much didn't mention anything about breakfast that was very basic in it's offering. At 150 not a good value lines up better to a 125 night hotel.

t was surprisingly quiet, given its proximity to the interstate. Well. I checked in on Tuesday and was supposed to have my room serviced on Thursday. That didn't happen, when I told the front desk she just kinda blew me off. I did ask for some K cups and she did give a couple. The room was not serviced on Friday, so I had to go down and ask for some more coffee K cups. I checked out Saturday morning with nothing being done. Also, the bed was not very comfortable, but that is just me, others may find it OK.

did not eat breakfast The room wasn't very clean and the pull out couch was very dirty underneath. We did not get offered room service. Pool was very cold and dirty.

Room had a bad smell of sewage gas it was not good

Everything was awesome and staff were great. This is the 2nd time I’ve stayed here in 4 years and we stayed like a week last time and only 2 nights this time. Such a nice place . If you need to use the stove to cook you will need your own pots and pans and big spoons for cooking they have plates, cups, bowls, drinking glasses and silverware there . It’s so convenient there and rooms are very nice

Poorly cared for and outdated. Room was disgusting. Didn’t stay for breakfast, just wanted to leave.

Excellent all the way around. Wonderful room with a suite that had a full size refrigerator and a dishwasher. Very clean, quiet and the beds were very comfortable. The front reception was good at check in and even better at check out. Great place to stay. So much better than the place we stayed 3 nights. Live and learn.

Nice hotel. Chairs and couches were dated. Ironing board was not in good shape. Rooms were clean.
