Great location, area is safe, friendly staff, good value for money. The breakfast choice is quite poor: just bread with creamed cheese, jam and flakes. But considering the price, it is okay, I guess

Almost everything stated in the hotel description is accurate. Breakfast is fairly modest and doesn’t match the photos on the hotel’s page (bagels and yogurt aren’t included), but free coffee and tea are available 24/7 at the front desk. There are three main issues: - an unpleasant odor in the room; - a lack of regular room cleaning, including trash removal; - receptionists ignoring guest requests.

The historic elevator was a rush because the permit is expired by 6 years and I like adventure Advertised breakfast was toast with butter, and bruised old apples.

I didn’t like anything about this property…..We had problems right from the start. They put us in a room on the 2nd floor at the front of the hotel. We could hear everything that was going on outside. The room was dirty and very stuffy. The ceiling fan in the room wasn’t working properly and The room didn’t have a working TV. I did go to the front desk and requested a room change, was told the hotel did have rooms available but guests was coming later in the night to check in. I then requested fir a maintenance person to come to my room to fix the tv. Was told maintenance staff went home for the day. I ended up checking out of the hotel after 30 minutes on being there and checked into another hotel for that evening. The hotel will not refund my money back after all the problems I experienced with the room and front desk staff.

Great location, less than ten minutes' walk from Powell Street Station. The hotel has everything you need, including a free breakfast, which is basic but will get you going in the morning! Nothing - very happy with it.

I loved the location as well as the antique vintage vibe of the place. I also loved that there were more options on the television then you find in most hotels lately. I was extremely uncomfortable with being in a room that not only was it on the first floor & despite there being a fan it was hot so we had to keep the window open to keep cool & that isn't exactly safe considering anyone can literally put there head right in & climb through the window. And being in the city I think that says enough. I also was very uncomfortable with the fact that when we opened the door of our room we were practically at the front desk so we could hear clearly everyone's conversation or checking in or out which meant they could also hear us so if we wanted to be intimate the entire staff would've been able to hear us clear as day so we weren't comfortable even kissing it was so awkward.

Overall it was good value for money for a city hotel. Tea, coffee and basic breakfast of toast and cereal is included. Room was clean and hotel are happy to keep your bags before and after check-in so you are free to explore. The room was warm, it didn't have air conditioning but there was a portable fan which did the job. Very small room but its to be expected for a city location with old buildings. Only 3 pillows on the bed which is unusual for 2 people sharing. Perhaps they would have provided an extra pillow if I asked but I didn't, it should have been there in the first place. The TV kept randomly switching on every few minutes late in the evening, couldnt get it to stop so had to unplug it.

Not autism friendly!! The windows had no screens, had to be partially opened to lock and even the lock wasn’t trustworthy. I was on the top floor and was on edge my entire stay. The locks on the door unlock when you push the door handle down and there is no top lock like in most hotels. Very easy for a child to open. The windows were also easily opened. It was a scary stay. Also you have to pay for parking. There is a parking lot in the back that has cheaper parking but it’s still a bit sketchy to park there. If you have young children or autistic children I would not recommend staying here.

The location was very ideal, walkable to a lot of the attractions. Only a 7 min-10 min walk to nearby train station. Shower was very good, bed was very good too. Stairs were a bit uneven, elevator too felt very old, room gets quite stuffy as well- ideally could do with air conditioning. Cleaners weren’t great at communicating either.

Room cleaning done well. My room was next to the street level. A lot of people taking drugs were hanging near my window and talking loudly through the night. Also, people sitting in the lobby were also disturbing me. The windows are not fully light proof despite the curtains. Frankly, it can't be called a hotel. They shouldn't be letting out at all commercially. Breakfast is ridiculous.

The location was a few minutes walk from Union Square, which is great. There was also a convenience store located closeby as well as some restaurants and bars closeby The room had a carpet that must have been there for more than 10 years. I had to wear socks all the time as they were dirty, dark and discolored in different patches. The floor was uneven with the fridge and microwave tilted because of the uneven floor. There is no air conditioning and the window was barred giving the impression to be in a jail cell. The breakfast consisted of some apples and 3 types of cornflakes in the basement. They didn't clean the room once during my stay of 3 nights.

The price It is located close to the worst area in San Francisco. There’s literally so many homeless people that consume drugs when you are walking to the hotel. The streets stink, you really feel unsafe apart from it being an eyesore.
