Hotel Amari

1. Location 2. Enough room for anything from luggage 3. Elevator in hotel 1. Very sticky floor in the room and no slippers provided 2. Bedside lights turn-off only from the main switchers, so each time you have to stand up to swith on/off the lights. 3. Worst view (in my experience) from the window - just the next building's window. However, as I felt there were bunch of other free rooms. 4. I've asked for the hairdryer, which they had so many in reception - so no problem here. However! The plug was EU one. Why would you give such one to visitors of your hotel, if all the sockets in the rooms are american, and the adapter doesn't come with it. 5. Safety deposit (which btw I'm still waiting post the promised return deadline) is compulsory to be made from credit card, which is not mentioned anywhere during booking. I've always made that transaction from my debit card all around the world and no problem, but here they insist it has to be credit card (and of course cash is not allowed, which is whole another problem).

The hotel is old yet charming. Staff is not very friendly but not rude. The rooms are very small and the coffee maker has 1 packet of coffee for 2 people and there was no place to plug it in.

.. typical for san fran... don't pay the hotel for parking it's cheaper if u take the corner to the parking garage. I think the hotel has some sort of deal with the parking garage but it's cheaper if u pay the parking garage directly.

Bad

It is an older property and good value for the money and the location is good for everything catching the public transit and walking is safe and there are many food options available in the neighborhood. I have probably stayed here at least three different times. It is a good value for the money.

Great value for the location, especially considering it includes a private bathroom and elevator. Lots of similar places charge more and do not offer these amenities. Staff works super hard and were very nice.

Value for money. Actually I would come here again Small rooms, no parking, room cleaning is questionable.

Exceptional

Location was good. Old rooms, smelt funny, mould in bathrooms. No storage or spot to place bag (family room). Lift didnt work.

Very good location. Easy access. Very helpful professional staff. Very convenient, chill and comfortable environment. Really didn’t like the bathroom. The window was very drafty because they’re old school. The tub was miniature size. I was there for three nights. The maid service only came in one day to straighten up the room. When I arrived there was one small bath towel, one hand towel and one washcloth. There weren’t any extra towels there wasn’t a bath mat. I had to ask for these things which I thought was odd. My room was $200 a night which I suppose is a good price for that location but it felt as if I was staying at a thrift hotel with the towel situation and there was a rip in the bedspread.

Quiet and situated in the middle of all my excursions! Front desk folks not helpful

I hated this hotel. Nothing to be liked. Do not stay here. We had a disgusting experience at this San Francisco hotel and will never return. They enforce a strict no-visitors policy that is nowhere stated. Our friend was just showing us around and wasn't even allowed to sit with us in the lobby for a few minutes. The shower was completely broken — water swinging between scalding hot and freezing cold with no way to control it. We reported it and were told there was no solution. When we asked to change rooms because of the broken shower and other serious maintenance issues, they lied to our faces and said no rooms were available. We had to leave and shower at our friend's place — the same friend they banned from the lobby. As South Asian guests, we felt treated with open contempt — from staff who were Indian themselves. One staff member with black-framed glasses treated us with open hostility: his entire demeanor changed the moment he saw us — cold, dismissive, visibly disgusted, making us feel judged and unwelcome. Being profiled by people from our own community made it sting even more. We paid for a room and got hostility instead of hospitality. I was going to recommend this place to the Desi community; instead I will actively warn everyone away Hidden policies, broken facilities, dishonesty, and hostility — impossible to miss. Avoid completely.

nice & quite

Bed was okay and shower worked. Central location, but the area is disgusting. The staff are very stingy with effort , energy and courtesy. Place smells weirdly, they should invest in a better cleaner/full time general maid. They should do more cleaning in general. The area of the city is grim, the staff are just a bit meh.

The shower smelled so insanely potently of cleaning products that we could not use it. We had to keep it closed during our entire stay or it would fill the room with a horrible chemical smell. Not to mention no A/C and the room got quite hot. But, luckily the 6th story window opened wide. With no screen or any other safety measures. Wild. So, do not stay here, even if it's a last resort like it was for us.

The property smells like it is housing old or molded furniture. The clerk was rude and dishonest. The hotel did not reach the qualifications to charge anyone over 30$ a night.
