Please be aware that the room sizes are not as shown. They are extremely small.

Walking to the North Beach strip does get crowded but heading back here somehow cuts all the noise.
-
August 2026 - construction noise on the other side of a shared wall was pretty loud from 8am. Otherwise a good place to stay, room tidy and location good.

Shops nearby, good location, parking available

We had a Nice stay over there. Bedrooms are small but it was really clean and the location was just perfect !

Does the job.

Great location and beautifully decorated rooms.

Charming character. Fantastic location. Really helpful, welcoming and kind staff. I was put in a room with construction in the adjacent room and over the kitchen of the restaurant below. It was quite noisy until late at night with construction starting at 8am. I loved the place and the staff, just not my room.

Very clean

If you are claustrophobic, don’t stay here. Our room was basically an updated closet. You walk in to a bed and sink in the tiniest room ever and a skinny attached bathroom with a toilet and shower. There was a plug for a TV on the wall, but no TV. No space to put anything. Coffee is available in the lobby but apparently we got up too early to take advantage. Not a hotel to enjoy yourself in. The only reason we were happy was the friggin awesome restaurant downstairs with the best Italian food we have ever had! They are not affiliated with the hotel. Oh, and there was NO parking. I had to circle the block for an hour before I found something.

Good location but hotel lacked many basic amenities. Not enough towels in room...no shelves to put personal items. The worse part is the noise. Rooms have to insulation, so you here everything from other rooms and from the lobby.

Clean Save money and stay here. You can walk everywhere. Fior d ITALIA the restaurant here is excellent. Also try Sotto Mare in North Beach. I have stayed here multiple times. Will go back again. Fair warning. Built in 1906, no elevator. If you are able to climb 17 stairs it’s so worth it! Newly remodeled rooms. They do have some rooms with private bathrooms. Brand new!! Room 2 has a great view of the street below. Open the window at night and enjoy!

Very Small room

The San Remo is a cute vintage style hotel that feels like a cross between a boutique hotel and a hostel! The staff was incredibly helpful offering extra blanket and local recommendations. The fresh coffee machine in the lobby is free and makes a wonderful latte or hot chocolate. It is also walking distance to a full day of San Fransisco fun at the piers, shops, and restaurants!

The bed was very comfortable and the room clean. Room very small with little space to open up luggage. Would have been helpful to know PRIOR to teaching that there is no elevator service and luggage needs to be brought up one flight of stairs
-
The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean. The room was exceptionally small with very little space to shelf items (ie toothbrush, makeup, hair accessories) and little space to open up luggage other than the bed. Prior to booking, a description of the room, including square footage (maybe a total of 100SF including the bathroom) would have been nice. Also it would have been nice to know before booking that there is no elevator.

What can I say? the place is great. Love the old fashion rooms. The bathrooms and showers are nice. They have shampoo, conditioner, body wash, cotton rounds and q-tips. Lots of books in the hallways to read. Coffee, a microwave, and water. The neighborhood is awesome, not to far from Fisherman's Wharf. There's an Italian restaurant downstairs, a Trader Joe's, taco joint and Grocery Outlet down the way.

Good for the price, and great location, but could hear anything happening outside of the room clear as day. In room 5 there was also a window that looked into the hall, where light came through all night, despite the blinds being closed. The room literally just has a bed, sink, shower & toilet in it. No shelves/dresser/bedside table, not even a hook on the wall. Good for a one night stay, but we wouldn't want to spend a long stay there. Not complaining - just setting realistic expectations for if you go!

The location was good and in a quiet neighborhood. The facilities were clean, and although I shared a bathroom, there never was a wait.
