San Remo Hotel

Great location in North Beach a short walk to restaurants and bars The overall hotel facilities were not what we expected. It’s described as vintage, but the place is rather run down. A window in the hallway was boarded up, the room was drafty with ripped curtains on the windows, the bathroom down the hall featured old shower stalls that were dark and dingy.

HONESTLY. OTHER GUESTS I SPOKE TO AT THE PROPERTY FELT THE SAME WAY.

While the location is good, stay away from the stuffy small rooms on the first floor. The room I was in had furniture that was breaking, loud construction noise, no natural light, hardly any room for belongings (since the cabinet was about to fall down, actually. I wish we could still have locals running this quaint old spot. Won’t be back.

This room was fine, but after checking in I felt that I had been misled about the room. Don't get me wrong, I didn't think I was checking into a four star hotel, but this was one step up from a hostel and, for the price, I would consider staying at the hostel. The hotel had charm and with a little tlc could be really cute and the location was really nice for exploring the city, especially by foot and transit. I didnt want to be in FiDi/Union Square but was on a budget and this satisfied that box. However, the space itself was so incredibly small and uncomfortable that I'd hesitate to say the location stands up to the space. My friend and I stayed in a twin bunk room that was no wider than 5'-10" (see photo) x maybe 10'-0" and if you're taller than 6', you will not fit in the adjoining bathroom. I'm 5'-7" and barely fit on both the bed and in the shower. I cannot overstate how small this room was. Two of us in it meant that we had to do a little waltz to get around. Also, our room had a window to the inside hallway which we were not informed of prior to check-in. We heard everything and there was always light coming in since the hallway lights cannot be turned off. Overall, it did what it needed to do, but we left feeling like we had overpaid for what we got and would reconsider this decision next time.

The location is worth any little inconvenience, it was perfect!!!! They are renovating the hotel & making the most of small spaces. There are 18 stairs from the entrance to the lobby, for anyone with mobility issues.

It was great value from Money, we had a new renovated room with private bathroom.

Nothing at all. Its a dump Every single thing. Its disgusting. NO amenities Carpet to hallways like a crime scene. AC works. Then the noise wakes you when its on. Sheets didnt fit bed. The holes on the bedside where the lamps should be were a nice touch.

Very good location. Big comfy bed. There was a window. Bathroom modern. Complimentary hot drinks station. Check in was 3pm but we couldn’t check in due to delayed cleaning until 4:30pm. No communal space in the hotel to relax. Room not that spacious. Communal space had very old carpets and gave you a damp feeling. Bed covers are open so the quilt pops out don’t like that. Teeny square bedside shelf nothing else to put things on.

The hotel smelled terrible. The fan in the room was extremely loud and could not be shut off, combine that with thin walls and it made for a very noisy room. Bags of garbage left in the hallway. Construction was occurring creating more noise and a visible eye-soar. The staff were friendly, but it does not make up for the poor experience.

Great location Not really a hotel, more like a hostel. Very small room with nearly no storage. Even a shelf in a corner or some hooks on the walls in the bathroom would help. Weird smell in the entry/stairwell
