There was a super long wait for check in because they were short staffed. Parking/valet is a nightmare but it’s San Francisco. Room keys didn’t work but we were able to talk to someone to help.
-
There was trash on my bathroom floor when I arrived to my room. The entire system “was down” so they couldn’t create keys, so I had to go down and get staff to let me back into my room each time I left the room. There was no wifi the entire duration of my stay, and I was on a work trip.

This hotel was the worst experience I have ever had. The staff were rude and the hotel was filthy and stunk of cigarettes. The elevator was tiny and unsafe feeling. They gave out keys that could open any door which felt very unsafe in such a sketchy neighborhood. I would never stay here again. We left and got a new hotel after the first day because it was so bad. I hope I get a refund for the remaining 2 nights through my trip insurance

The television in our room did not work the entire weekend. We called maintenance but they could not get it to work either.

First of all, there was no on-site valet parking as advertised. Second, when I attempted to call the hotel to inquire about the parking, I was unable to get through. I was forced to use a separate parking garage a block away. Tempurpedic bed was not in my room as advertised. My room had a standard spring mattress. Many hotels will keep their best rooms for direct bookings and give their lower quality rooms to guests who book through travel sites. Based on my accommodations, this certainly seems to have been one such case. Made to order breakfast did not exist as advertised. The restaurant was mediocre, at best. My shower did not work at all. My toilet seat was detached and falling off. When I contacted the front desk agent, I was told that maintenance has too much to do and cannot attend to my issues, therefore I could not shower before leaving. The desk agent was completely unempathetic and did nothing to show concern for or resolve my issue. When I stay in San Francisco, I always select hotels with on-site parking, so I expect that the website descriptions accurately provide the property information. This is not the case with the Tilden Hotel. My money should be refunded in full, as nothing about this hotel was as described.

I only stayed here for one night while attending a concert. The room honestly felt more like a motel than a hotel. It was clean, and the staff was very friendly and welcoming, which I appreciated. However, the property is very outdated, and the room didn’t have air conditioning. only a ceiling fan The price also felt much higher than what the room was worth. I’m guessing rates were increased because of the concert, but even so, I don’t think it offered good value. Overall, it was fine for a single night, but I wouldn’t choose to stay here again.

Horrible location and horrible environment. First thing I see/hear when I walk in is a whole nightclub with loud music and people yelling. Front desk staff was rude and seemed irritated with my questions. Answers were vague about how the valet worked. Was told it would be a substantially higher price to valet my vehicle than what was originally quoted on the app. We did not feel comfortable handing out keys over to a stranger who would park our car at an undisclosed location. The location in which this hotel is in is just awful. Smelled like pure liquor and smoke and was dirty beyond means and did not feel safe. The description of this hotel is 100% inaccurate.

Only good thing was the bed was comfortable. The walls are thin and we could hear our neighbors until 2am so I didn’t sleep good . The bathroom very small just a sink with no counter space to put toiletries. The carpet is old and the room and hotel just didn’t feel clean.. the guy at the front desk was not very friendly we got there at 2pm to see if we could check in hour early, he said no rooms were available. He had us wait until 3:30 several people arrived after me he instead of taking order of arrival he starting checking people in and a lined formed and it was 4pm by the time I got a room. The hotel lobby is dirty and stains on the chairs and couch. Also, the elevator is small and stinks and is not clean. I would not stay there again. None of the staff are nice.

No air conditioning in the room and the WiFi didn’t work.

The neighborhood is really trashy (ie. The hotel is next to a mission house), so you'll regularly see and smell homeless folks (and their evidence) in the streets. Overall see if you can find a better hotel in a better neighborhood.

great restaurant and bar as well as cafe located on the property. staff was helpful and kind & the room was extremely clean!
-
Didn’t have breakfast. Very old hotel. Elevator very dirty. Bathroom small
-
Very clean and stay was pleasant.

Cleaning staff are wonderful however and the bedding was clean and well kept. Important to note that the Hotel is also in a terrible location. Candidly, not an area any tourists should be walking solo, or after hours. I wouldn’t stay again.

Enjoyed the 8th floor room! Rooms and bathrooms were much bigger. Appreciated the location and price of the hotel. The French bakery was closed which was a huge bummer but my son a I enjoyed the mariachi restaurant dinner and breakfast.

Great location. Building is bit old and the lift broke down during my stay and I had to carry my luggage down the stairs. The sound proofing is also rather poor and I can hear people talking in the other rooms and luggage being dragged along the walkway outside my room. The room rate is much cheaper than other hotels in the same location, so it is still value for money overall.
-
Older building, I understand no amenities but well worn carpeting and couches look dirty. The most creepy thing is the humidity sensors in showers if there were other rooms available in city, I would have moved. The light on my fan just turned on intermittently, 4 ‘0clock in morning. The walls are thin I heard housekeeping at 5 am talking through the walls might have been my location. It’s not ideal, especially with the A/c unit. Have to keep shutters open for good ventilation.
