Everything very clean, simple, old style, good bed. Great location, but noise from shouting on street at night penetrated up, echoing off buildings Need cup to drink water or coffee. Need tea bags.
-
The room provides hardly any noise insulation, it is therefore very loud, although my room was not even facing the street.

The room was a lovely Art-Deco inspired room. It was small, but had lovely aesthetics. No refrigerator, and It was on the 6th floor, and the windows were opened with NO SCREENS ! I immediately locked the windows upon arrival. There was a cockroach in the bathroom on the wall. I photographed it. The real problem is this: I was told by the Hotel to park in front of the hotel, in-order to check in, and bring up my luggage. They had ONE PARKING SPACE white zoned that the OWNER of the Hotel and Deli was parked in, so I was force to park behind the owner’s vehicle where HE had placed 2 Orange cones to block the white zone ! I had followed the Hotel’s directions, and I got as close to the cones as I could. I was still MORE THAN 18 inches away from the curb. All because of the very inconsiderate OWNER OF THE BUILDING taking up the ONE PARKING SPACE that I needed to check in, before moving my car to the parking structure. No free or included parking here. I got as close to the curb as I could, And I still, after only 15 minutes GOT A BIG FAT PARKING TICKET ! HE BLOCKED THE CURB WITH CONES, in front of his own building, making it impossible for HIS Customers to check in. Is it even LEGAL for the Owner of the Hotel to block Geary Blvd’s White Zones, - with Traffic cones ? Now, I have to wait 90 days to see if SFMTA will side with me on this ticket issue. The owner saw all of this happening, and he did not lift a finger to help me. I would NEVER stay here again. So, be very careful if you book this hotel, if you drive into the city. Also, I refuse to eat at his restaurant, - David’s Deli, for the same reason. Perhaps Mr. Touchstone Hotel should go back to business school, and take the class : Customer Service, - 101.

The hotel is cleaning the rooms everyday, The rooms are small but they are doing their job. Also the breakfast & lunch place at the entrance of the hotel is really good. The door cards are loosing their ability to open the doors frequently. It wasn't caused any problems for me because you can find someone at the front desk all the time.

The location was excellent, and it was a very sensible choice in terms of value for money. Also, the staff and the owner were very helpful and attentive.

What impressed me most was the care and attention of the owners and staff. Every day they made sure the hotel was clean, comfortable, and that guests had everything they needed. The reception team was always friendly, welcoming, and ready to help with any request. Their kindness and genuine concern for guests made a lasting impression. Another highlight was David’s, which is connected to the hotel. The food is excellent, and the atmosphere is amazing. It feels like stepping into a classic American movie and adds something special to the overall experience. What makes this hotel truly unique is its warmth and character. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcome, cared for, and completely at home. The combination of the fantastic location, exceptional staff, spotless rooms, and welcoming atmosphere made this one of the most enjoyable hotel stays I have ever had. I highly recommend Touchstone Hotel to anyone visiting San Francisco.

Very clean. Beds made every day and towels changed daily too. Rooms completely cleaned. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Especially Juliet at the front desk who saved our day when we were trying to access baseball tickets from a UK phone. Got the tickets and saw the game. Thank you Juliet. But that wasn't the only occasion she helped us. Also very knowledgeable of the local with tips and advice. Great breakfasts in the attached diner. Great friendly staff, in an authentic American diner. An all round great place to stay a in convenient location. 10 minute walk to Powell Bart Station, so you can catch the Bart direct from SFO for less than $10. Highly recommended.

Great location and friendly staff.

There is a lady in lobby. She was always helpful and smiling. A little old

The staff was nice and they store your luggage when you check out, if you like. The location is relatively close to a Bart station. There is 24 hour coverage at the front desk. And there is a 24-hour breakfast place across the street. The shower head cannot be taken off, it is one of those that cannot be removed. There is a strange smell in the hallway and room. I think it might be old wood? Not sure, but you stop noticing it quickly enough, so it was no problem.

Great location near to Union square. Loved the style of the hotel and the attached 1950s era diner. Clean rooms, wonderful hot shower, comfy bed - the hotel had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The staff were all really friendly, helpful and professional. Really enjoyed breakfast in the diner! A lovely stay - would stay again.
-
The staff are great and very frendly people, very helpful. Breakfast at the David restaurant was also top notch. Parking I belive is better not to rent a car since private parking lots are very expensive in SF.
-
The hotel is in a very bed shape, smelling bed, dirty bedding, the shower was clogged and water never drained completely. I changed three rooms at check in before finding one in a decent condition to spend the night.
-
It was a good, no-frills hotel in the middle of San Francisco. It was exactly what I wanted. The room was a little small, that's all, but that is what I was expecting.
-
There was an asian woman that works in the morning and I just wanted to give her a huge shoutout-- honestly some of the best customer service I've ever received in my travels! Room was clean and I felt safe. I love how the door to the entrance locks. Everything was great about this stay!
