Holiday Inn Express and Suites San Marcos South by IHG

I will start by saying the beds were extremely comfortable and the staff were incredibly sweet and attentive, especially the front desk young lady. My complaints have more to do with the room. There was something brown smeared right next to the toilet paper holding which I can only assume was poop. That was the first thing I noticed when I sat down to use the restroom, it made me want to puke. The bathtub had a crack and would leak onto the bathroom floor. The room smelled liked cigarettes despite it being a nonsmoking. The breakfast was pretty decent and I believe if they focused on cleanliness and making some upgrades they could even raise their prices. I will also mention that one of their treadmills in the fitness room was broken, so they should consider getting that fixed. Overall, I would not stay there again but it was affordable and you get what you pay for I guess.

Overall nice place, however, we were put in a handicap room which was not requested. Toilet was too low and the soap dispenser in shower was empty. Otherwise all else was good.

Clean room and helpful staff.

Pool was green and dirty, fitness center was moved to a hotel room, bathtub still had hair from previous occupant in it, pancake maker was broken at breakfast. The hotel did not appear well kept and the front desk staff disappeared for long periods of time. Would not stay here again.

Property was nice, rooms were big and clean, breakfast was substantial, but our A/C stopped cooling.

Only thing was that the A/C wasn't working on our floor. But A/C it did work in our room. They were under construction.

The hotel was modern and new looking. The staff was friendly, and our room was cleaned daily. I reported the frig was not working the first night. I was offered the use of the hotel’s frig; however, it was not a convenient solution so I just used my ice chest. Upon leaving after 3 days, I reported the frig not working again. Do not stay on the first floor! The people staying above and around us stomped like elephants to the point I thought someone would fall through the ceiling. Fitness room was adequate and all machine except 1 were working. Breakfast was good and there was a variety. A mechanical pancake machine was available, but I did not use it. No pool towels were available unless you asked at front desk. The pool was not maintained very well. Leaf, flower and hair debris along with cloudy water suggested several days of not being cleaned. One morning, the trash can at the front of the hotel entrance was overflowing with trash all around. Not a good look for the hotel or potential customers.

Friendly staff. Great location. Didn't get breakfast because on weekends it starts at 7. Hallways were rather warm and only 1 elevator worked. Either my room or the sheets had a musky smell.

The room looked fine but I woke up with bug bites all on my legs. I was also disappointed the pool and hot tub looked nasty.

Room keys would not work. Requested non smoking. Got a smoking room.

Room was very cold. I had a good stay.

Our ac did stop working but started working again. Over all it was okay for one night.

This hotel was under renovations during our stay. The cleanliness of the room upon arrival was not to our standards. There was a hair ball found on the carpet and hair left on the shower wall. House keepers left zero towels in the bathroom which is not a big deal, we got aome from the front desk. It was the cleanliness part for me me. First and last time at this hotel.

The breakfast was not good

Pool extremely dirty and hot tub broken. Not to mention dirty due to people painting while open for business. Bad place to stay.

Beds very comfortable. Breakfast good. Easy parking,

Stay was okay. Shower did have hair and dried shampoo on the wall of shower, but room was clean other than that.
