The view from our room was nice and the room looked cozy but if you looked closer it was not that great. The bathroom sink didnt drain. We had a cockroach in the room and other bugs. There was mold in the bathroom and the bed was not that comfortable. You could also hear EVERYTHING from the surrounding rooms and outdoors and I am sure they could hear us.

This was the worst shower I have ever taken in my life the beautiful bathroom redecorate. It was good when I went to take the first shower there’s no water pressure. The water comes from the roof ceiling in the bathroom very terrible water pressure. I would never go back to this hotel. I couldn’t get through to the receptionist front desk clerk for hours to verify my stay before I took a 2 Hour Drive. The noise from the refrigerator motor was too loud during my sleeping hours and during the day you could hear it humming the worst TV. Unit I’ve ever had couldn’t figure out how to change the channel which channel even on a woman came to the room 102 late in the evening 10 11 o’clock at night knocked on the door. There was no reason even given she said she’d come back and help with the remote control and the TV never came back. I paid for these amenities. A shower was horrible. I couldn’t even get myself clean the TV I couldn’t watch for 12 hours bit of fix things in that place. It’s horrible. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. The only good feature was it was right across the street from the ocean

Room needs better mattresses. Beds squeak a lot

This was the worst hotel stay I have ever experienced. The broken jetted tub shot out a ball of hair when I pushed it. There was a loud buzzing noise that happened every ten minutes. The sheets were dirty. The room felt like a prison cell and smelled. I also heard people running up and down the deck all night. There was NO ocean view as I requested, NO balcony. It was a shared deck balcony that you had to walk to. Management had an attitude at the front desk and it was a complicated check in process. It was SO bad, I checked out at 10:30pm at night and booked a new hotel. DON’T stay here!!!

Great location..... but the hotel and staff was a disappointment..... especially for the price. much better options a block away.

Room was amazing and great staff

The AC was too cold when we arrived; I turned it off. Couldn't get it to run the next day, nor could the staff. I figured it out on day 2. They offered to move us to another unit. I would still stay here again because the price is low and the location is good.

Once we got the check in figured out it was an amazing property. Everyone was very nice. Great area. Close to bars and restaurants. Starbucks near by.

It was across the street from the beach with a great open balcony

The day we were leaving, housekeepers opens the door without knocking!! You need to pay attention to how you are running this business, your location is so good, the place could be a cozy nice place but it needs a different level of attention and investment

When I arrived, I was given a completely different room with and only a partial ocean view. I was told by the front desk that I had been “booted” from my reserved room for a VIP guest. No one contacted me beforehand, offered me a choice, or warned me that the room I specifically booked would not be honored. What made it worse was the way management handled it. Instead of apologizing or trying to make things right, I was basically told there was nothing they could do and that the room had been reserved for another longtime guest. I saved for months for this trip and specifically paid oceanfront balcony experience overlooking cabrillo blvd. Had I known I wouldn’t receive what I booked, I would have stayed somewhere else. Being moved for a “VIP” after paying for and confirming a specific room made me feel like my reservation simply didn’t matter. Very disappointing experience and poor customer service.

Room was not clean. Our socks were black when walking on the tile floor. Towels well used. Evening snacks were very minimal, breakfast not worth going to. You cannot check in at the hotel, instead walk down the block to another facility they own. We had a homeless person sleeping on our patio. The toilet was flooded and we were moved to another room, after we had unpacked. The bathroom at both places does not have a counter to place your personal items. The furniture looks like purchased at Good Will with bottom drawer missing and a night stand only on one side of the king sized bed. Had to keep a wash rag near the bed to wash our feet before climbing into bed. It was more like the old day camping in experience except our camper was much nicer

This was by far my worst experience. My wife and son and I stayed in a room that had 2 queen beds and 1 twin bed. The location is of course amazing but the hotel room was atrocious. We had a broken bathroom window; old and blackened tub; No chairs; no cabinets for our clothes. Stayed 5 nights and we had to go and ask for towels almost every day. The people at the front desk were fine and acted surprised that no one was cleaning our room or putting additional towels. The last 2 days we had a sign up that messaged the cleaning staff to clean our room. On our last full day, I tried again in the morning and the person at the front desk messaged supposedly the cleaning manager to take care of our room. We came back that evening and nothing was done. The used towels were on the floor, the bed sheets were never changed. On top of that I was bit by a spider in the room. The place needs to be torn down and updated. I was hoping to talk to someone about getting our money back as it was not cheap, but of course, no one was around.

Parking is very tight, as it goes in cities like this so be aware that if you don't get a space then you'll have to track one down on the surrounding streets. And you need to be realistic that at this price, you are not getting a super fancy, luxurious resort hotel. It's a cute little boutique hotel, they're old buildings and some of that show, but it came off as beautiful character to me personally. So make sure you have proper expectations and a good perspective going in. They do a fun little happy hour with some wine, crackers and cheese as well as a continental breakfast that included pastries, pie, fruit, bagels, cereal, waffles, juice and coffee. It was just what we were looking for and we really enjoyed our time there!

The location The fact that there were so many marihuana smokers. It was not smoke free. It was very loud. I was getting awoken by neighbors upstairs walking and using the bathroom. Very loud. Then there was a flood. Water started leakong from above. You cant report it cause they are not at reception and no one can help.

Ala Mar was a quaint hotel steps from the beach. Most things were within walking distance. The two hotels under one ownership was confusing. Receiving information for a booking at Ala Mar and then a follow up message about the booking from Villa Rosa left me scrambling to see if I had booked two hotels! Furthermore, when I called the hotel number, I never received a callback.

The bedroom was good for a nice stay, shower head had a few problems but other than that it was good. AC really helped. The showerhead, and it was nosy towards the night.

We enjoyed having a porch on our room. Our room was not ready when it was supposed to be. It was hard to find somebody to take care of issues at the hotel being that no one was in the office most of the time, and you had to go next-door to find someone. It shared amenities with a neighboring hotel. In their information, they definitely need to put that it’s not amenities at their hotel but at a neighboring hotel.

Absolutely lovely hotel. We reserved a 2 bedroom room and ended up with a mini apartment with 2 cute little bedrooms, a little kitchen a nice living room, and beautiful patio to the pool area. Furnishings are old fashioned and the place could use a slight refresh on somethings (tub was a little old and could use a deeper cleaning) but I loved it. So worth it for the money (everything in the area was expensive that weekend but this was on the lower end and way better than other options at the price) and the location is perfect. May not be for everyone if you prefer more modern amenities but I loved it and will definitely be returning. 4.5 stars for me

Location was the only thing going for this place unfortunately When we arrived at 5 (check in time was 3), the room hadn't been cleaned yet and the beds hadn't been changed over from the previous guests. . We were told to go out for dinner and return after a few hours to give them some more time. . By 10pm it still hadn't been done. The receptionist wasn't at all apologetic and seemed put out when she suggested she would have to do it herself. In her defence, she seemed to be the only one working there and was constantly running from one property to the next. Avoid, this place is Chaotic and dirty. Such a pity because it's in a great location!
