Avania Inn of Santa Barbara

Seriously was so impressed by this stay! It was so amazing that it was this close to the beach and for this price!

I arrived at 2:45 p.m. and was told my room was not ready because check-in was at 3:00. So no early check-in here, not even by 15 minutes. The front desk employee was not very friendly or helpful. I’ll discuss more later. The room had the basics, but that was it. Very limited TV channels, no guest laundry, no pool towels both times we went, and breakfast was basically waffles. If you don’t want waffles, plan to eat somewhere else. The location was also rough. About 100 feet up the road there were people sleeping on the sidewalk and urine on the ground. Right next to the hotel, people sat by a parked van smoking weed throughout the day. The biggest issue was the shower. It would not drain and quickly filled the small walk-in shower. I told the front desk employee (the same one that checked me in), and he came up, confirmed it, then said there was nothing he could do except offer a small discount. I told him I didn’t want a discount… I wanted a working shower. He first said no rooms were available, but when I pointed out the “Vacancy” sign, he admitted there were upgraded balcony rooms. After speaking with management, he finally moved us. Almost laughable, The balcony room looked out at the people smoking weed outside. I’m leaving this review for anyone unfamiliar with the area. Choose another hotel. There are hotels right next door that looked much better.

Everything about the Avania was great. The room was clean and had great amentities, and the staff was nice and provided great service. I would definitely stay there again.

Stayed at this property for the Fourth of July. It was incredibly convenient. Right by the beach within walking distance of the fireworks display and everything else. Property was pretty quiet. I stayed on the third floor. The king bed was really nice and everything was very clean. I would totally stay here again.

Both of our beds did not have the right size fitted sheets for the queen bed. Breakfast was just ok. Staff was ok, but not too friendly. I think neighbor kids were using the pool the one day we were there. Not a big deal! Hotel is on a busy street. Fortunately our rooms faced the mountains.

Front desk receptionist was very friendly and gave us advice on local hot spots. The room was clean and large size and beds were comfortable.

I was very pleased with our room, our staff, and our front desk staff. It's a great location, easily accessible to the waterfront and the Funk Zone.

Breakfast has been changed to more of a continental breakfast… which was a change from the previous visit.

Staff were amazing and very helpful great manners. There were a beautiful lady at night at the reception that had 4 arriving customers at one time and she handled it very calmly and professionally. Clean rooms spacious. I will visit this place again for sure.

clean room good staff. The toilets are extremely low to the ground. No elevator to rooms. They do not always have parking at night and the neighborhood is a little scary to walk around if you have to park off site. They also only clean the room every 3 days.
