Kimpton Canary Hotel by IHG

We booked for 5 nights but hotel allowed us to leave after the first night as we were not happy. Room was very dark and lacked the space that we need and was over priced. Roof top pool very small and not much available space. Hotel public areas quite small and location not great. Although we booked breakfast included for 3 guests, on arrival we were told that they don't do that and instead provided a nightly credit of $50.(which wouldn't cover breakfast). Restaurant was only average, and over priced.

Nice rooftop pool. Rooms can be noisy (dogs barking, doors slamming, traffic), however overall nice clean accommodations.

We did not feel the experience came anywhere close to justifying the cost. From the beginning, the staff was generally unhelpful and did not provide the level of attentiveness or hospitality you would expect from a property charging these rates. The pool area was extremely overcrowded, which made it difficult to relax or enjoy the amenities. What made the experience even more frustrating was the lack of proper bar and food service at the pool. For a hotel at this price point, basic poolside food and beverage service should be expected, particularly when the pool is such a major part of the property. The biggest issue, however, was our room. Although the room itself was spacious and clean, there was a very noticeable sewer smell that made the space unpleasant to be in. Dealing with an odor like that is simply unacceptable. I do want to give credit where it is due. The room was spacious, well maintained, and clean. Unfortunately, those positives were overshadowed by the poor service, overcrowded amenities, lack of poolside service, and especially the sewer odor in the room. At this price point, guests are not simply paying for a clean and spacious room. They are paying for a complete hospitality experience, and ours fell well short of what we expected. Great location and loved the room…very comfy bed and luxurious linens!

The customer service was exceptional. We were married by the courthouse in Santa Barbara and we stayed here right after our ceremony and the staff did everything to make our visit extra comfortable and fun because of it. Our room was clean and the bed was so soft and comfy. I loved their plush pillows. The location of the hotel is perfect,it's just walking distance from downtown activities. We will definitely be back.

Staff was great, valet was super nice and helpful and friendly. Room was clean and great - except maybe to have better brand of toiletries.

Incredible front desk staff and very thoughtful amenities! Ben was so lovely and upgraded my room. Bed was super comfy, and the hotel is very dog friendly. Can't wait to come back! Tea selection in the morning could be better, but other than that, great!

Phenomenal staff made every day easy and comfortable. Kimpton social hour from 5 to 6 was an evening ritual we enjoyed.

The room was excellent, the rooftop pool, coffee bar in the morning, and wine reception at night were all top-notch. The staff was very friendly, the manager shook my hand and introduced himself.
