We absolutely loved this boutique hotel in the middle of Santa Barbara. The location was fantastic - we easily walked to dinner and shops. The property was clean and the room was spacious and comfortable. We loved the beautiful property grounds and enjoyed the breakfast with local coffee and pastries, and the complimentary wine hour in the evenings. The staff was friendly and helpful. The only downside is that there is limited onsite parking and we had to park on the street one night of our three-night stay. However, we were able to find a spot almost right in front of the hotel, so it was no big problem for us, and there was no charge for overnight street parking at that location.

The property is beautifully maintained and the room I stayed in (1 queen bed) was adequate and comfortable. The room itself was a little bit small, they didn't have a fridge, and there were barely any wall sockets to plug things into, which was a little annoying. But all in all, a very comfortable place to stay and would recommend!

This place is extremely cute and unique! The set up of the different buildings is really special. The staff is very friendly and offers coffee, breakfast, and even wine and cookies at no charge! Great proximity to Downtown and the beach. Would highly recommend!

Room was nice, bed was comfortable. Room is very no frills. Very limited parking on site and hotel is within one way streets so finding parking/entrance can be tricky. There is a small restaurant on site and lots of dining on site and nice coffe/pasteries at breakfast.

The hotel is very cozy and comfortable. Staff is friendly and hospitable and the whole place feels like you are in you grandmother's home. They offer nice breakfast amenities and cookies and milk in the evenings. The show is great, nice water pressure and heat control. I would definetly return to this place.

The hotel is not as advertised. The online photos are misleading and make the property look much newer and better maintained than it actually is. The bathroom was especially old, dated, and in need of renovation. To make matters worse, we found ants in the bathroom, which raised concerns about the cleanliness of the room. Overall, the lack of housekeeping, ineffective A/C, misleading photos, and the ant problem made for a very poor experience. We won’t be returning and would not recommend staying here.

Compare like it has been in years past. It seems old and tired. The sofa in our room needs cleaning and the drains in the bathroom were slow.

The Upham is a lovely small hotel. We enjoyed our stay. The wine happy hour and continental breakfast were yummy.

Quaint, charming, beautiful gardens, on-site parking. Rooms and bathrooms feel run-down. Breakfast should be served and be more substantial.

Very high quality place. Bungalows in separate buildings. Not much of a view, you're in the city, but very nice grounds and furnishings. Not cheap, I paid $550 for a Saturday night in August. Walking distance (8 minutes) to State street. Great, free breakfast in the am, pastries and coffee.

Very charming hotel with a nice outdoor area, complimentary wine, and a very cute bistro on the premises. Would return. Rooms are small but it’s a great value for Santa Barbara and good location.

Our room was exceptionally spacious, beautifully maintained, and incredibly comfortable. The beds and pillows were among the most comfortable we've ever slept on, making for a wonderfully restful night's sleep after exploring Santa Barbara. The location couldn't have been more perfect. Everything we wanted to see and do was just a short walk or short-drive away, making it easy to enjoy the charm, shopping, restaurants, and beauty of downtown Santa Barbara without ever needing to drive. The in-house restaurant was an unforgettable experience. The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was nothing short of magical. Every meal felt special, with attentive staff who made us feel like honored guests. My wife and I absolutely fell in love with the Upham Hotel. It's one of those rare places that combines historic charm, exceptional comfort, amazing food, and world-class hospitality into an unforgettable stay. We left already talking about when we can come back. If you're looking for the perfect place to stay in Santa Barbara, look no further—you won't be disappointed. Highly, highly recommended!

Good location for walking downtown. Lovely coffee and breakfast sweets. The room was extremely small, making it difficult for 2 people to manoeuvre. There wasn’t even space for 2 suitcases.

Highly recommend for anyone to stay here. It’s beautiful and located in a perfect location.
