Hotel Paradox, Autograph Collection

Restaurant service was unorganized and slow. Food menu was decent though. Pool area was inviting but definitely need to change their pool chairs. The material makes them look super dirty. Yuk.

The carts by housekeeping make alot of noise on the concrete walkways making napping impossible during the day. Avoid a room by the stair as people run up and down and noise radiates through the walls. The rooms were very quiet for the most part as they are soundproofed. That is kind of rare. The pool area looked very inviting but for the fact there were alot of families on vacation. The public spaces were inviting to use and tastefully decorated in various themes. I didn't learn the building history but Marriot did a great job converting an old hotel into something more resort-like.

Staff were friendly and helpful throughout. At breakfast, the staff were most welcoming, although actual food content was rather average. Useful water dispensers were dotted around the property for bottle fill-ups. Overall, very good.

Really awesome hotel with complimentary happy hour and beautiful amenities. Our room smelled musty, however, and when I reported it, nothing was done about it. Some of the staff also seemed unfriendly. I could also hear them talking about how they needed a day off.

The rooms are small, poorly designed, and have no privacy which was disappointing. To get light into the room you have to keep the drapes open and then everyone walking by can see directly into your room. If you close them then you have no natural light in the room. The restaurant, bar, and pool were nice. Convenient location to downtown Santa Cruz. Overall, this hotel felt overpriced for what it is.

Service was so slow, actually non existent, so we had to skip our complementary breakfast Buyer Beware! This place is a bummer

The staff were friendly, and the lobby had a unique, welcoming feel. However, the property felt a bit dirty and worn out for my taste. It didn’t seem as clean or as well maintained as I would have liked, which affected my overall impression.

However, with that said, the staff was very gracious and apologetic, and gave us vouchers for the bar and restaurant to soften the blow. From that moment on, based on our time, there was wonderful, and the entire staff was very accommodating and friendly I would definitely recommend it to any friends or family.

We always love staying at the Paradox. Even as locals, its our staycation destination. With the rewards program we enjoy the late checkout and continental breakfast. We love that its dog friendly, cute decor and friendly helpful staff!

Amazing everything was exceptional

The hotel was very clean, and my family and I had a wonderful stay. We especially enjoyed the swimming pool and the hot tub—they were both amazing and very well maintained. The overall atmosphere of the hotel was welcoming, relaxing, and peaceful, which made our visit even more enjoyable. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.

Hotel was kinda kitschy, in a good way. Thought it was independent only to discover it’s now part of the Marriott family. Room was super small but did have outdoor seating and a gas heater. Restaurant food was good but they’re trying to do too much with too few waitstaff serving the pool crowd and the restaurant with the same people. It was slow. If you come to Santa Cruz, be sure to look around as there are dozens of hotels not listed that might be better deals, nearer the ocean.

Heated pool with pool side food and drink service is LOVELY for bringing the kiddos and actually being able to relax with them.

This is a chic place, upon checking in, the guy handed us our keys and proceeded to walked away. My wife and I looked at each other, never been to this place, we don't know where the elevator is or which way to go, I had to go find him for directions. Since we just came from the beach, we wanted the kids to shower, I see the shower handle was loose and there's rust and mold sitting there, it looks like it's been broken for a long time and nobody bothered fixing it. I stepped into the tube to turn on the water, the soap bottle that's clue to the tiles, it came off, landing on my toe, I was limping all weekend. It's a noisy place, I don't think the glass separating the room and outside walkway are noise insulated. I went downstairs to the ice machine, there's no ice. Since the bed is next to the glass window, and outside is the walkway, sleeping, you can hear "thump thump", people rolling their suitcases. Parking is plentiful, but it's not free. My toe is still sore.

This is a great hotel. The rooms are nice, the staff is friendly and the pool and spa are great.

Cool place. Very modern. Rooms a bit small

One of the nicer hotels to stay in Santa Cruz. Loved the vibe, decor, and how kid/dog friendly this property is. The rooms are a little bit worn and outdated and there were some updates that probably need to be made to the hotel itself. The pool and amenities were nice. VERY expensive parking, food, and drinks - although the room booking itself was reasonable. No outside food or drinks are allowed, so just note that you'll be spending a lot hanging out at the hotel.

We stayed for 3 nights. The room was comfortable and the pool and bar staff were amazing.
