Cool place - great restaurant - room could use some modern upgrade- porch was deep with pollen.

As I have come to expect, the Publick house was quaint, peaceful, and full of that old time charm. All interactions with staff were wonderful, as always. Ava at the Guest Desk checked me in and I have come to recognize her from past stays so always great to see an organization that retians their staff...especially highly compitent and pleasant staff members like Ava. Rest of my stay was great. While I did know there wouldn't be a refridgerator in my room (make note that not all rooms provide them) I was a bit surprised that there was only one 3 prong outlet in the bathroom where I could charge my latptop which has not been my past exeprience staying at this property. I always relish my time staying at the Publick House and look forward to my next stay in December.

Lovely, historic inn with excellent food & service.

The place was beautiful and well maintained.Loved having a restaurant on the premise.I wish we were able to use the pool but it was overrun with kids doing flips into the water. It would be nice if a few hours was designated each day for adults only.

love the place, but obviously old, which is charming. Not all the amenities in room that many expect. No fridge, etc.

Very quaint and like stepping back in time. Well maintained and rustic with the woods facing the patio door. We thoroughly enjoyed it and are already planning a return trip.

Everything was how a wonderful hotel should be!

The smell of the entire place was off putting. I think the carpets need to be deep cleaned and maintained daily. The guest room was decorated very cute, but it wasn't very clean. There was dust all along the inside of the bed rail and crumbs and debris under the furniture. The bake shop was a cute addition. Dinner at the Tavern was quaint, but the steak was full of grizzle. Thankfully, we got to change to another meal and it was good. Staff were all very friendly and accommodating. The complementary breakfast was a little sparse and disorganized. More training is needed for younger staff on how to put out items in a efficient manner. . Pool was quite a walk from main building and the towels ran out. A bathroom near the pool was missing. Housekeeping comes very early. We could hear vacuuming above our room at 9 am. A bit early. If you're looking for updated furnishings and amenities, this is not a place for you. This place is geared towards and older crowd and families. Lastly, I booked a spa appointment on my last day. I arrived to the spa and it was closed! After a few text messages, I got an answer. Apparently they moved and forgot to inform me. That was disappointing. Nothing was done to rectify the mistake, but the massage was decent. I would give the property 3 stars/5.

My room was large and the bed was very comfortable. The AC was not loud and kept the temperature perfect considering the heat wave over this past week. Most people don’t realize the Publick House has an outdoor pool! That also was spotless, clean and the water temperature was just right. Last but not least the food was very good. I had 3 full meals there and each was very good. Plus a 10% discount if you’re a hotel guest. All in all it beat a trip to the Cape and it was a pleasure to spend the 250th Independence Day celebration in such a pretty and historic location. I’ll be back for sure!

Such a good value for a good experience. The pool was lovely and the room was tidy and clean, and the ac was cold. The staff was friendly even on such a busy holiday weekend where they were slammed. The price is unbeatable. We’ll be back soon!

Everything was perfect

I loved everything about the Publick House. My room was in the Main Lodge, and the whole place brimmed with character. And I got all the benefits of a charming historic inn for the price of an ordinary motel room. Wow!
-
Inn needs new carpets , everything else was excellent! Great staff, food ,drinks, bakery, location etc. Fantastic!
-
Great place. Only issue was we were unable to close the curtains due to the a/c placement.

Our room was quite dated, but clean and spacious. The plug in between the beds needs to be changed out, as it was no match for gravity. Any phone charger we plugged in fell out within seconds. It was able to keep the alarm clock’s plug secure though. Front desk staff was very nice and helpful.
