Holiday Inn & Suites Virginia Beach North Beach by IHG

Amenities were great! Location on the beach was perfect and had a trolley stop right outside. Coffee market was good. Square whale was good. Rooms were clean Elevators small and slow, hall ways besides ground floor were extremely hot, I asked for bedding to be changed twice due to it not being done. Asked to speak to a manager and was told “in a meeting”. Pool on last day was gross and multiple people complained . They finally closed the pool for cleaning after a few hours of complaints. Breakfast was gross. Pancakes were hockey pucks and I was overcharged. Staff there had no idea what was going on. Hotel from desk only refunded the over charge. Front desk staff didn’t seem to care much about any complaints. Porch door was extremely heavy. Many times no towels at pools. No effort by staff to accommodate complaints

Location is great. Bed was terrible and bathroom door was really hard to close.

Cleanliness of rooms and pools, stains on sheets and bed frame, balcony above our room falling apart.

Location Wasn’t very clean. Very expensive - almost $400. Elevators not big enough or fast enough. No towels in the rooms. Old old carpet in room.

Exceptional

The hotel was very nice and we enjoyed the amenities. My last night, I noticed a blood stain on the mattress cover and blood spots on the side of the bed near the head of the bed. Also the toilet in the room was broken.

The kids loved the pools! The restaurant/bar near the pool and the beach was great!

We loved the location, the amount of pools and the movie options. Our room was not ready at 4pm as noted on reservation. Parking fee was mentioned it would be reimbursed but when asked about it I got a “Booking.com should email the receipt”. We haven’t received anything yet. The bathroom door did not close properly. The renovated room pictures on the website didn’t reflect the room we got. Housekeeping didn’t come in to pick up old towels nor provide clean towels. My husband had to ask the front desk for more. The movie idea is great but maybe have someone make more than 1 batch. We went to grab popcorn and it was empty every-time.

Clean room. Helpful and friendly staff. Beautiful view from the balcony. Will absolutely stay here again!

Too expensive and poor management

Check-in was a nightmare. I have never in my life been to a hotel that my room was not ready at the 4:00 PM stated time. When I asked what is a reasonable expectation for it to be ready I was told they have no idea. They did offer to take off the $50 parking fee for my stay. But strangely, when I went to check out, they had not done that. Luckily, I caught it again and they did remove it. I ended up waiting an hour for my room to be ready. I know that’s not very long in the scheme of things but again I’ve never been to a hotel that the room wasn’t ready at the stated check-in time. And I sat in the lobby, watching other others who had waited even longer than I dealing with staff and tempers were flaring. I believe the problem is they have are short on housekeeping staff. I was there for a total of five nights and on day four asked that morning to have my room cleaned and it never was. We brought our own garbage bag and took towels from the front lobby. So as far as housekeeping, service services terrible. The great thing about this hotel is they have a nice size pool a good poolside café and it’s right on the beach. But don’t go looking for any extras or much customer service.

The room was very nice and seemed pretty clean. The problem was the hotel was very hot and even our room didn’t get to a comfortable temperature even after request for help multiple times. Trying to get ahold of a staff member was nearly impossible. Getting extra pillows took 2 days and multiple requests. A family member also stayed and her balcony door got stuck open and they took extremely long to address this as well (after multiple request). We were offered a free breakfast voucher to make up for the problems but it seems like they need to get it together.

The hallways were very hot and if you’re on a higher floor it only gets warmer as you go up the floors. The elevators are very very slow and taking the stairs from the sixth floor with kids is not ideal and many times the elevator would already be full when it came so we would wait many times in a row for another. If you need to use a trolley be prepared to wait for an elevator as it’s even longer since you will need more space and cannot squeeze in if the elevator is already full. We wanted to use the theater but the remote was lost for most of our stay. It looked like it would have been great for families. My family loved the pools and they are very kid friendly! The Italian restaurant does have a dress code which was disappointing since the website says it’s casual dress. This should be updated. Parking was convenient and the convenience store across the street was so useful. Good stay overall.

Staff was very nice. Our hallway (5th floor) had no air conditioning and was extremely hot. The elevators are small and slow. There did not seem to ever be enough luggage carts. The shower was very narrow. The bathroom sink had large cracks in it and mold. There was dripping onto the balcony from above, probably from a/c unit. Ocean view was great. Great beach access. The parking spaces were small but overall, the parking lot was good. The Atlantic Avenue trolley’s first stop is right outside the hotel which is great and cheap. Seems very family friendly but for couples traveling alone (like myself and my husband) it might be too hectic. Did not use the pools but they looked nice. The new coffee shop is great.

To start the air conditioner wasn't working in the hallways.Outside your rooms. We were there for 5 days, and the cleaning service only came in.And changed our garbage bags.There was no towels in our room.When we got there so we had to go downstairs to get towels because they weren't answering the phone from the room. The garbage cans are overflowing by the pool.The service at the restaurant was semi.O k , we felt like the people that were working there have never waitress before. We asked the front test for extra blankets and pillows.Because there was pillows missing from our bed , took them two days to get it to us.
