Surfbreak Virginia Beach Oceanfront, an Ascend Collection Hotel

Location was the only reason I gave 2 stars. The staff was great but the hotel is very rundown. We had a suite for 6 nights and the price was obnoxious for the space. The shower didn’t drain while showering, so you showered in your own filth. Took 10 minutes to finally drain. The toilets didn’t flush right half the time. The place needs lots of maintenance and everything felt a bit dirty. Had many families staying there that we knew and everyone wasn’t impressed. We definitely didn’t get what we paid for. Would try some other place if we ever go back.

Great view. Bar was convenient. Security is a major issue. Housekeeping left our door wide open. No security cameras on property. Parking lot is a block away with no security or cameras. Carpets are dirty. Hotel is old and not updated. Tiny pool. Bring right on ocean is best part.

Never stay here. Very old and dirty. Never towels. Location is the only perk!

Amazing stay! Easy check in and check out process, staff was friendly, professional and helpful, hotel was clean and great location! The room was clean, had fridge, microwave, in the room and chairs and table on balcony. Coffee, tea, cocoa and fruit in lobby. We will definitely be back to this hotel!!

The hotel is starting to show it's age and needs a refresh. The beds were clean, no issues with that but there were random stains on the chairs, and carpet and the toilet seat was broken. No earth shattering issues or problems but not the perfect 10 we keep seeing online. The restaurant & bar were good, pool was nice, views were great, nice access to the beach and we had a very nice time.

Really enjoyed my stay. Clean and welcoming. I only wish parking was better.

Location great clean that’s it We were in town for concert got back to hotel after concert the restaurant was open went in sat down only to be ignored as the waitress watched the NBA Playoff game after 15 minutes we left. Told front desk they apologized but didn’t really do any good. Towels not kept at from desk and if you need them only available till 3pm never again a bad run property stay somewhere else. Oh the parking is terrible you have to walk a block but it’s at least free!

The staff was very friendly, and the room was well kept! A great view of the ocean with plenty of things nearby to do!

The entire staff at this hotel was amazing! I've never stayed at a hotel where all the workers were so friendly. The housekeepers were exceptional, anytime we needed anything they were very prompt and friendly. As someone who works with the public you have an awesome team here!! I would say the balcony area could use some updates as the air conditioning units do leak quite a bit, however I would stay there again simply because of the staff and location. Great job!

Room unfortunately was hot and muggy upon arrival, smelled like animal urine. Aside that, it was falling apart and photos looked so much nicer. It ended up being similar to econo lodge from the 90’s. Would not recommend anyone but college kids to stay here

We liked the room and location. There were stains on the pull out bed. The shower wasn’t the best and the balcony was a little bit dirty. Overall we liked the place especially for the price. Parking was not very good, little parking lot in front of hotel and a little walk to the other lot.

Coffee in lobby and water. Pool was ok. Bed was comfortable and ac was cold.

The front desk could have been more friendly and attentive but other than that no complaints and would come back in the future.

Off-site parking is 2 blocks away. No beach chairs or umbrellas included with the stay. Great view of the ocean!
