The hotel is impeccably clean and well maintained. The staff is professional and friendly. The location is close to everything and the history is interesting. Very affordable as well.

Good location, great staff at the bar and good food.

Wonderful older boutique hotel with a door man. Not far from metro station Foggy Bottom. Near George Washington University. Definitely use the metro to get around DC.

Loved this boutique hotel! Valets and check in staff were excellent, we loved the atmosphere of the bar, and the restaurant food and service were great. We booked a Superior King room for the July 04 holiday and it was very nice for the two of us. Clean, nicely decorated and the bathroom while on the smaller side was sufficient with a tub/shower stocked with soaps, shampoo and conditioner. Really like that this older gem retains a lot of the original character! A few blocks down 21st street takes you to the Lincoln Memorial and Reflection Pool. Would definitely stay here again!

Very interesting rooms - like old one bedroom or studio apartments. My room had a separate kitchen and separate dressing room connected to the bathroom. Very old but nicely rehabbed in period style. Clean and quiet, sort of quaint. I liked the food in both the cafe (breakfast) and lounge (dinner) A lot of value for the money at this hotel and super nice staff.

Loved the unique atmosphere. Tiny elevator, hot hallways without air, very dimly lit hallways, air didn't cool the room to match the thermostat, no access to an ice machine so had to wait over an hour for someone from the front desk to bring some, bed and pillows were too firm, and the shower head sprayed sporatically. Valet parking was very nice and the valet attendance were wonderful! Check in and check out was a very easy process and the location was great!

Staff, luggage storage, cleanliness, and location were great! Price too. The historic decor of the hotel wasn’t our favorite, that’s all.
-
The staff was fantastic. The location and historical feel great. An amazing value for downtown DC.
-
Very comfortable, spacious room with everything we needed. Great location for sightseeing. Staff very helpful. We liked everything. It would be nice to have complementary water in the room on arrival.

Reception staff are great!

Location is great as the hotel is accessible to coffee shops, CVS, Metro, whole foods, and restaurants.

I was traveling for work and booked this room as it was literally across the street from my company's DC office location. If you're looking for a historical hotel with charm, this is the place. There are steps leading up to the elevators, so be mindful if you have issues with steps or need more prominent ADA access. They do have a very small elevator and another that is more accommodating, but it is definitely an older classic hotel. I've been in a lot of hotels in the last year, and this one had more charm and architectural interest. I was only there for 2-days, the location was great, close to restaurants and we walked to the monuments about 15 minutes away. The rooms are smaller, so are the bathrooms, but everything was clean, well-kept, and convenient.
