Location, spacious

Hotel front desk staff amazing, quick check in, front door men and bell men were great and helpful, room very nice. Only negative was The Lounge for breakfast is a nice buffet assortment but eggs, pancakes, bacon, oatmeal all cold. Did not return for breakfast the next two mornings we were there. but did give lunch a try and it was good.

Location. Rooms are large. Bathrooms awesome. Staff friendly, look out for their guests. We had the breakfast package. Breakfast elegant. Very convenient for taxi and rideshare pick up and drop off. Very safe, secure atmosphere.

Great location for my family to see the sites of the US Capital!

The good part was that it was close to the national mall because we were visiting for July 4th. It was extremely hot during our stay and the fridge in our room didn’t work. When we asked for it to be replaced they said they couldn’t do anything. We asked where the Ice machine was located and they said the hotel guests have to come down with their ice bucket to the front desk if they want ice and they would fill it for us. We stayed for 4 nights and paid over $4000. This is not was not what I expected from such a lavishly priced hotel that claims to be luxury. I regretted booking with them and wished I would have just paid $200/night with any of the other hotels. I was looking for an upscale luxurious experience and they did not deliver. You get more amenities and conveniences staying at many of the other big chain hotels. Save your money and stay at a Hilton or Marriott. I also had to pay a resort fee like Vegas but they don’t have the amenities that Vegas offers. We couldn’t use their car service and either. It was denied to us. The housekeeping was great and the door man was nice.

This IMO isn't a 5 star hotel. They nickel & dime you for everything. The food in dinning room room was ok. The left out the part about the train. We paid for a water view and got a partial with a nice view of a crane.

The location was perfect for our visit, and the staff were incredibly helpful. The room was large, clean, and tastefully decorated. The lobby bar was nice, however a bit expensive.

The Salamander DC is the very best kind of posh. By that I mean that yes, the place is one marble floor or stunning sculpture after another, and the hotel room is vast and gorgeous...but the absolute best thing about it is the universal smile and willing spirit from every member of the staff. If you ever wondered if it was possible to find a hotel (or ANY business!) where every person seems to actually be glad to see you...step up to the Salamander. I enjoyed every moment of my stay!

My stay was everything I could have imagined. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive. Hospitality was 10 out of 10. The spa services were amazing. Would definitely stay here again.
-
Great experience overall. Wonderful room - excellent bed, bathroom, amenities. Housekeeping missed the mark one just one day - But overall great place to stay

Very beautiful and relaxing staycation! I love all things Salamander!

Great stay, helpful staff and beautiful property.

The staff, the amenities and the room were excellent! 10/10 on everything. I travel a great deal and this was one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in for overall experience.

As soon as I got to my room, I noticed a huge makeup stain on one of the beds. I called the front desk right away, and they had the sheets changed, but once I noticed that, I started seeing other things too. There was a coffee stain on the wall, multiple stains on the carpet, and the bathroom honestly didn’t look like it had been properly cleaned before we arrived. I’m big on cleanliness, especially when I’m paying to stay at a “nicer-end” hotel, but the condition of the room left a bad taste in my mouth. To make things worse, neither the TV nor the phone in the room worked. I was in town for several events and barely spent any time in the room, so I didn’t have time to keep calling down and complaining, but the issues definitely didn’t go unnoticed. I’ve stayed here plenty of times and have always recommended this hotel to people visiting DC. Something felt off this time around. I’ll definitely think twice before staying here again.

Wonderful place to stay. The hotel shuttle to the Mall and Wharf were great. All staff were friendly and helpful. Views were spectacular. Pool was warm and we used it every night.
-
Absolutely beautiful hotel!! The staff was so helpful and accommodating. Will return to stay again and dine at the restaurant Dogon, the food and service was superb

Clean room with exceptional views, extremely pleasant and helpful staff. Restaurant was only okay, but the bar was excellent. Would stay again with no hesitation!

I absolutely love the Salamander. For the past two years, every trip to the DMV area requires a stay there. I love the cleanliness of the rooms are comfort of the beds. For the most part, the staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. However, during my most recent stay I requested an amenity for my bath via the test messaging service and never received it. I’m not sure if this was a technology issue or if someone simply dropped the ball. Nevertheless, from now on I will call the front desk with any requests rather than utilize the text messaging service.

This hotel was one of my favorites when it was still the mandarin oriental. It just doesn’t have that same class and grace anymore. The staff are not well trained and everything takes an excessively long time. The food in the lounge was terrible. The cocktails were the same as a pub and lacked craft. Turn down service was completely skipped for me, so I had to call to get additional water and coffee pods. The tv’s do not have chromecast or app capabilities, leaving you with basic cable options. This hotel felt more like a 3/4 star rather than a 5 star. Not a horrible stay, but there are certainly much better options.
