The Royal Sonesta Washington DC Capitol Hill

Beautiful hotel in a nice area, within walking distance of the Capitol Building. The French restaurant on the first floor is excellent. Not much is included without an extra charge. No complimentary water, and bottles are $7 each, which is upsetting that they would not provide water for something we need to survive. Just because others don't do it doesn't make it acceptable, especially when I already paid $500 for one night. 5 stars... but with a few dissatisfiers and hidden fees, so I will never go back when there are nicer hotels for cheaper.

The Reception team set the scene, they are smiley, helpful professional people who cannot do enough to get you to your spotless and well laid out room. The facilities team need congratulating on getting everything spot on too. We took breakfast at the attached Bistro - wow, what we chose we thoroughly enjoyed and the wonderful team in there treated us like family. Again, nothing was too much trouble and our helpers, Alya, Louis and Johnny were all exceptional and engaging. The food we had was plentiful and cooked exactly how we asked for it - obviously following a solid French Cuisine, we were never disappointed. Again, being greeted on entry with warmth and a smile from the team whose names I didnt catch was lovely. It is perfectly situated for the Metro, Amtrak and Buses, within 20 minutes or so you can be on the National Mall if you can walk past the wonderful places on the way. In all, the team here work so hard to make things special for visits, they did with us and we not only fell in love with DC but this Hotel too and will certainly come back. Location was perfect Beds were a bit wonky. If you lied on the side it felt like you were going to fall off. The shower seemed to miss its bottom Seal as the water would stream through to the floor when showering

Con: valet parking is expensive. $65 per night.

Spacious bedroom Staff at checkin was not very kind. Has not helped with possible requests.

Great experience great location. For family trip

We splurged on our usual hotel budget and we're so glad we did. The hotel was lovely and the staff was wonderful...but most importantly, the ability to walk (quickly) to and from Union Station and to other points of interest (allowing us to have a car-free weekend) was our deciding factor. We weren't disappointed and would stay here again.

Rooms clean and no odor. Bathroom clean without mildew in shower. Bed comfortable. Room lights were unique and helped create a warm and restful ambiance. Would stay again.
