Beautiful building. Great place for a quick stay

Bed was comfy & pillows were nice. I was on the 2nd floor and could hear guests walking across the floor upstairs. The hotel website mentioned blackout shades/curtains in rooms but we didn’t have them in our room. WiFi was hit or miss. There is no restaurant or bar but they do have a nightly wine and cheese setup every evening and cookies & milk at night. There are a couple of restaurants on the same block. Self parking was free with plenty of spaces available. I noticed they use white/fluorescent lighting in some of the areas in the hotel, personally I prefer softer lighting for a cozier atmosphere.

What an awesome historical Inn, with charming meet and greets.. wine and cheese in the gorgeous bar and warm cookies and milk in the parlor. Our room was beautiful and had exposed brick so authentic. Just loved it.

I liked so much. There was so much to see.

The room size, decor, breakfast, staff, parking, location, amenities, excellent! I was scouting for a location to bring a group for a retreat I'm planning and it fits in nicely with my needs. The breakfast is so great, and the happy hour and milk and cookies, although not my bag, sure are nice things to advertise for retreat guests - having everything you might want is nice. The patio and outdoor spaces, proximity to restaurants and Old Salem and even downtown is great. it's easy to find and get to from the highway and you don't have to deal with downtown traffic. The historical context and motif is a plus. The staff were all unfailingly full of on-point Southern hospitality without being smarmy or inauthentic. Kudos to the management! The bed was comfortable but slightly lumpy. I can tolerate this but for my retreat I'd love to be able to tell my clients that the beds are extraordinarily comfortable. The coffee maker and offerings were wonderful, but I was there for 3 nights and the supplies were not replenished, though the room was cleaned daily. I didn't see a safe - that might be nice for longer-term stays so people can stow their laptop or jewelry, etc. The towels are wonderful but I always notice the scent of bleach and bleached towels leach moisture from your skin. As a healer, I want my clients to feel very nourished and soft, natural fragrance towels are preferred. None of these are deal breakers, though.

Renovated old brick downtown building. Easy stroll to Old Salem. Great breakfast.

The hotel was not wheelchair/walker friendly. We had difficulty getting to the breakfast area. When we parked at the main entrance, there were lots of steps and no ramps. We had a room with a king-sized bed for two people. The room had one small table and only one chair, which was a straight-backed wooden chair that was not very comfortable. We had to lay on the bed to watch TV, which put us 20 feet from the screen. The room needed two padded, comfortable chairs.
