The Shaffner Inn

This house had a suite which was great for two kids, me and my mom. Lots of room for my toddler to run. It was a slow week so my daughter and me were able to explore the whole house and see what each room looked like. My daughter loved it. The gentleman that helped us was very helpful. Helped with our stuff, gave us idea of area to walk and food ideas. He brought my daughter a roll out bed. I was also happy to see a pack and play already in our room. We even got to meet his dog which made my kids so happy. Breakfast was simple and great.

Our stay couldn’t have been better! First, it’s one of the most beautiful and unique properties I’ve ever seen, full of old world charm. Truly a unique experience. Shane was a gracious host and breakfast was delicious, a real meal not microwaved in a bag.

A charming old Southern home with interesting furniture throughout. The staff was lovely and so willing to do whatever we asked. Well-located. We enjoyed the 4 o’clock happy hour.

A unique experience. The room was twice as big as the average chain hotel, and the ambiance and location were 10/10

Beautiful historic inn! The lounge area is such a relaxing space. Shane was an excellent host, making us feel welcome and sharing the history of the inn. EXCELLENT hot breakfast. Nothing!

The owner/manager was absolutely wonderful. Breakfast was limited but fantastic. And the property itself was beautiful. We didnt take advantage of the lounge, but it seemed very nice. I would definitely recommend this place.

It is beautiful. All the woodwork and original fireplaces were a dream. Everyone was very friendly. And they were hosting an art show which was great. It was a climb to our room. Understandable. With a shared bathroom on the second level it is limiting to who would be comfortable.

Great place to relax after the heavy moving while returning to Wake Forest with my daughter!

The feel and character of the house was amazing, and our room was spectacular and the staff was helpful and very friendly. We received an upgrade to the top floor "Piedmont" room and it was unique and comfortable. We also had the chance to see other rooms and all of them looked nice. Walking through the common-area rooms and porches was a treat and the breakfast, along with the coffee, fruit and muffins, was a perfect way to start our morning. We were also able to enjoy a quick walk to restaurants and bars and to the venue for the event we were in town to attend. There was nothing we didn't like except it was early in the week (the bar wasn't open) and just a quick stay for us, so we didn't get to enjoy just lounging around the house, maybe playing a board game, a little more.

Not a great experience here. We arrived around 7pm and weren’t greeted by anyone. Our keys were left on a table. We had no idea where our room was and had to track someone down to assist. The room itself was fine. Bed was hard and like another review stated, you can hear the outside traffic. Our room did not have a bathroom attached to it and we had to walk down the hall and our door stuck and was difficult to shut. Breakfast was fine.. nothing special. I was disappointed in the lack of assistance from anyone. I didn’t feel very welcome here.

We loved our room (the Piedmont room) at The Shaffner Inn! It was spacious, beautiful, historic and comfortable. The staff were accommodating to all of our needs and the hospitality was outstanding. This was a great place to stay and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there.

The moment we walked into the beautiful Shaffner Inn @4:00 in that afternoon we were greeted by the lovely “front desk Kayla”. (There are Two Kayla’s on the property ?). She showed us the spacious room with a super comfortable bed and decorated with antique and original decor! The inn has a very interesting history so check it out! We were instructed by Kayla to let her know if we needed anything. Kayla was very kind & sincere! Later we asked her for dinner recommendations. She replied "Di Lisio’s Italian." It was a very short walk from the property and our meal was amazing with great service! (Ask for Hector, he was our server). After dinner we returned to the Inn and enjoyed a glass of wine at the well stocked bar inside the inn. During our stay we met other staff members, including the other Kayla, and her husband Austin who have years of experience in hospitality and handling wedding events (they have a venue for those of you looking). All of the staff we met were genuinely kind and very attentive! The full breakfast in the morning was also excellent. We were also impressed by the security of the property and overall beautiful setting! 5 star rating for The Shaffner Inn!! My Husband & I were thrilled to find this Gem and will return!! There was nothing to dislike

Can’t beat the location for convenience. Access to the parking lot was a little difficult due to the location.

Shane was a wonderful host and made me feel very welcome. 1907 home was beautifully decorated and walking distance to restaurants and Old Salem. My room was very comfortable. Signage was lacking in where to enter the inn. The breakfast was a bit lacking for such an historic inn. I expected a restaurant on site, as mentioned in the booking site.

The Reynaldo Room was very loud. Heavy street noise & loud music from cars. If you’re a light sleeper this room isn’t great.

We were on town for the Bowman Gray race. The inn keeper was great. The room was beautiful and the bed was great. The continual breakfast had eggs, sausage, bacon fruit,etc. Fresh orange juice. Definitely would return

It's a beautiful historic home and our room was spacious and comfortable. The staff were very friendly. The breakfast was prepared fresh for us and tasted good. We walked to an excellent Italian restaurant nearby that they recommended to us. There was a lot of street noise.
