Ohio House Motel

Close the attractions restaurants and shopping. Staff was very helpful and polite. No Amenities , no complementary breakfast if booked by third party booking sites, Thermostat controlled by front desk and you must request it.

We had a great stay at the Ohio House. It was very clean and comfortable. Seemed like a good value for the area. Seemed like rooms/bathrooms were renovated relatively recently. Not loaded with many amenities but that was clear when we booked. Nice sized room for two of us. The staff was polite and helpful. It felt secure with a separate keyed entrance before entering the hallway of rooms. Parking was very convenient, being right outside of the doors and was less expensive than other hotels deeper into downtown. Location was good, plenty of good restaurants around. It’s a bit of a walk (like 20-30 minutes to places like Navy Pier, Art Institute and River Walk) but we enjoyed the walks to and from and soaking up the life of the city. We would definitely stay at the Ohio House again.

The location is great and the room was clean enough, but the experience goes downhill from there. The interior and exterior walls are extremely thin. I could hear the neighbor's TV perfectly and traffic noise kept me up all night. The oddest thing, though, is lack of a thermostat in the rooms. There isn't a phone either. After searching high and low to adjust the temperature, I had to look up the motel phone number and call it directly to ask about changing temperature. My calls went to voicemail four different times. About 45 minutes later, I noticed the AC come on and the temperature was fine after that. No one ever called to let me know they received my request. Weird.

Horrible experience would not recommend to anybody

Very clean and very well kept property. Great location, so many shops and restaurants within walking distance. Parking lot right in the hotel property which was fantastic. The deli that is attached to the street side of the motel office was delicious. Will definitely stay here again when coming back to Chicago.

I didn't realize that this was a motel until we got there. I guess I didn't pay much attention to the name or the picture. We had the room above the registration desk which I liked because it gave me more of the hotel feeling. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The room was small but clean and tidy. The bed was nice and firm. There is no gym. There is no onsite restaurant but there is a deli right next door that serves breakfast and lunch which was very convenient. The motel is in an area with a lot of restaurants which we liked. They do have onsite parking.

All that a motel needs to provide for well rounded comfort was provided.

Perfectly located. Great staff and rooms. We've stayed here twice and will likely stay again on our next trip to Chicago.

Superb

The room, bed, pillows, and bathroom were clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. The price was reasonable. The location was good. I would stay there again.

Bedside lamps and outlets didn't work on either side of the bed. On check in no mention of breakfast pass. I had messaged the motel a couple days in advance through Expedia confirmation text received to request a ground level room. Even though the Parking lot wasn't even halfway full, was told no ground level rooms were available.

Exceptional

This motel in a city was surprisingly good. The staff were welcoming and charming, there is something endearing about this small hotel. It seems they have taken ownership of what hotels used to offer, providing everything you need in the room; coffee making, equipment for ironing, large rooms with a good sitting area. The room and bathroom were clean and tastefully furnished and decorated. The breakfast at the corner diner was excellent.

not a single thing We had our reservation 8 months in advance. The morning of the first stay, they said Booking.com put us in a King room (lie) and that we would have to re-book to get an available double room and the price would be approximately $500 more. An hour later, after Booking.com contacted them, they canceled the reservation due to "overbooking".

It's a motel, so my room was right off the parking lot and the street. It was a bit noisy. The rooms are also apparently not very well insulated against noise. I could hear conversations in other rooms and people on the stairs and in the hall.

It left a bad taste in my mouth for sure. Not with Expedia again for a long time ... til my memory fails.
