The location and price was amazing! Smooth check in and friendly staff. The lobby area was very cozy and well kept. They provide coffee and water, shared fridge space, and a shared kitchen area. Slept safe & sound ! The shared bathrooms were as expected- they did their best to keep them nice and fresh, just know what you're getting into if you've ever stayed at hostels before!

There is clear signage from the street for the Bowery Lodge. There is 24 hour staff on hand. They give clear helpful instructions upon arrival. There is WiFi throughout the hostel. You can request clean towels if you require. The bathrooms were regularly cleaned. Considering the rooms were all fully booked, There was always one bathroom available for use at any time of day or night. There was always hot water, even during peak period. The unlimited 24 hour tea/coffee/water beverages are highly appreciated. The communal seating area was homely. The walls were brightened up with pieces of art, some looked like they were drawn by family member's children which added to the simple homely style decor. My bed was comfortable. The floor fan in the room was highly effective. I switched it off because it made the room too cold for me. When I requested another blanket, I was granted one. The room served it's purpose. I was able to sleep well (with ear plugs as I always do). I was safe and my belongings were secure. There were plenty of hooks to hang my belongings and clothes up on to. The hostel is well located with China Town on the doorstep, and many metro stations nearby. The bathroom mirrors are scratched from cleaning, and so it can be difficult if you want to fix your hair/make up etc. One of the bathroom does have some moulding grout, which happens in bathrooms, but the staff still clean the bathrooms throughout the day. So cleanliness is not an issue. I also couldn't work out how to operate the shower in one of the bathrooms as it had a different method of operation.

The hotel location is nice, and good value for money. The common room is a bit small.

Hello - I arrive on July 3, 2026 at 5:30 AM ish - had to call number on Door to get in. The property contact a Mr. Jason who came over to check me in and let me in. The delays and troubles with the Airline put me at the property arriving NYC at that time. I got check in and Jason was super nice and entered my room around 6AM. I requested from him if someone could knock on my door around 11:00 AM to wake me up as it had been a hard travel with no sleep in like 24 Hours. I had a 12 Noon ticket for Lady Liberty and needed to catch the ferry. A nice white hair lady I met when I left right at 11:20 AM. I stated when I was leaving that I had this ticket and would be back that afternoon. She told me no problem and to leave the bags in my room which I did after say about 4 hours of sleep. I left and did the tour and came back around 5 PM ish. I met her again and she told me to take my time and I told her about my Empire State Building tour at 9PM - then I went to shower a d change and by that time it was almost close to 8 PM and raining outside. First time in your city and kinda panic mood to get to Empire. The lady was not around so I went to the front desk and asked about should I leave my bags in my room or should I bring them up to the front for bag storage? I spoke with a Mr Ping who couldn’t understand me and I did not speak Chinese. After more conversation getting no where I stated I leave the bags in my room and left for my tour. He said $5 Dollars but that was all he communicated. He didn’t understand me at all. Due to the time crunch and it raining - I gestured and said after he dint understand me again not I him, ok I just the bags in my room and then I left, telling him I Would be back before midnight. I got back right before Midnight on July 3rd and was almost accosted my Ping asking me where my room key was? I had a small backpack full of stuff and said I had it and will be leaving ASAP. Ping followed me to my door and stood there. Hello - I arrive on July 3, 2026 at 5:30 AM ish - had to call number on Door to get in. The hotel is on the Bowery where is meets Canal Street, which is quite a cool location. Everything else: - my tiny, dark, windowless room was infested with cockroaches and there was evidence of mice - there is no 24hr reception, so you're on your own if bugs/mice wake you up in the night - when I reported having squished a cockroach during the night, I was given a cleaning spray to clean it up myself - on my 3rd night, I was looking for another cockroach that had woken me up and I found a syringe and (I suspect) drugs under my bed - my room and the bathrooms had not been cleaned for a long time - food eaten and mouse droppings in my room - having to leave the hotel at 2.30pm and walk the streets to escape the dirt, syringe, drugs and cockroaches - hotel staff complaining that I had moved my bed after I reported the syringe - hotel staff laughing off issues when reported - hotel management refusing to refund my stay because I didn't report these issues straight away (I did). I eventually got 3 of 4 nights refunded - hotel management then refusing to refund my last night because I didn't stay - would you?! Avoid this hotel at all costs, you will regret staying here. I stayed in June 2026 during the World Cup. I booked this hotel because it was very cheap and would just be a place to crash. Please do not make the same mistake - you will get no sleep, it will be hazardous to your health. I cannot stress this enough: you will absolutely hate it.

Located within convenient walking distance from the Grand Subway station, this place is one floor up via stairs (no elevator) and operated by a Malaysian Chinese guy from Selayang, KL. Comfortable single room with queen-sized bed (bunk beds also available) and 4 shared bathrooms with toilets (comfortable size even for six-footers). Free flow of water, coffee and tea - nothing to complain about at this price point. Not convenient for wheelchair users of if you have trouble with stairs

The man on reception was welcoming and helpful, that’s where the positives end. We couldn’t believe just how tiny and cramped the room was. A room for 2 people should at least have space to get changed and have luggage aside, this didn’t even have that. No window made it feel like a prison cell.
