Checking in at the front counter was an easy process, with the woman behind the counter providing me plenty of information regarding the hotel’s facilities and restaurants. The elevator is quite small; 2 people plus luggage was the approximate maximum space. I was traveling alone, and was only staying a night, so I took a chance on this style of hotel. Each room is themed, with the artwork very beautiful. The bed was more comfortable than most, and your own sink in the room as well. There were 4 bathrooms on my floor, shared amongst the guests, that were very clean. While the room amenities were great, the hotel itself is very old which of course leads to the usual problems: the windows opened, but you need to prop them up to keep them open; the AC sometimes had a loud clicking noise; the walls were a bit thin, and I knew exactly when my neighbors were leaving their room. I didn’t going to any of their restaurants or the salt water pool, but I’d definitely recommend a stay at this beautiful historic hotel (I know the shared bathrooms put some people off, but I gave it a chance and don’t regret it at all.)

A fun and quirky place to stay near great restaurants, bars and Powell’s Bookstore. The large, hot soaking tub is amazing. I would definitely stay here again!

In a ddition to this it was not plainly advertised that you use shared bathrooms! Theres 2 toilets for each floor and my floor (3rd) has like 15 rooms. So 2 toilets and 2 showers for up to 30 people. Other than that...The hotel is GORGEOUS!!! Theyve capture the charm of the era it was built in (1911) and then updated it in a quirky fun way. I might stay here again but not with a pickup and realize that most garages close areoun 11pm or midnight, So if you go out and want to stay out late. Leave the car and take an uber. And bring a piss bottle if you dont want to stumble down the hall in the middle of the night to pee.

We have stayed here many times. Just love it. All great
-
Unique Shared bathrooms had throw up all over them in the morning (I went into two found this way)
-
Front desk staff was generally friendly and welcoming but a few weren’t welcoming or possibly they were too shy to acknowledge guests.

The property was very unique and well laid out. Nice amenities and charm. Would’ve been nice to have your own bathroom in the room, but wound up not being an issue

What an amazing, unforgettable hotel. I stayed 4 nights and loved every moment, from the boho Silversun Pickups room to the basement bar and gorgeous restaurant and soaking pool. The Crystal ballroom was only one block away. I can't wait to go back! I had to come home.

Loved the restaurant. The food was great! And enjoyed the soaking tub. Staff was great! N/A

Also we didn’t receive a free breakfast. Didn’t know that was available. Otherwise beautiful and clean with a wonderful soaking pool.

Staff was rude. We completely felt like a burden. Pillows were so used we had to stack 3 on each other to get any kind of support. Menu in our room wasn't available until 10 days after our stay. Bartender at Hals acted as if us ordering was a chore. We used to love staying here. Unfortunately it seems as if staff has forgotten that the customers are what make their job possible. Bartenders at Als den were great, and the ONLY highlight of our trip. They should be training the rest of the staff.

Always a please staying here. Easy online check in. Clean rooms and we love the themes of the rooms. Shared bathrooms are clean and easy to use. The hot pool is amazing. Food is great and walking distance to so many other options too.

Place was very clean and well appointed, but simple. Location is good, near bars, restaurants, and shops.... Also the Crystal Ballroom! Even so, our room was quiet. Soaking pool was lovely and very clean! Great urban getaway

Second time staying here. Amenable staff, great rooms, clean bathrooms, incredible salt-water hot tub (that's very large), and just an all-around awesome hotel. Highly recommend.

The pool was really fantastic The service seemed reluctant to help, and the shared bathrooms were a hassle, both of which seemed unreasonable at the price we paid for our stay.
