Should be priced better for what you receive. A one night stay would be fine. It was quiet, minus the extremely loud old a/c system. Go elsewhere if you would like a cocktail and anticipate staff will be MIA often unless it is high check in or check out time. Sheets need an upgrade but room was spacious.

Really enjoyed the decor too, we felt special.

The suite was large and beautifully appointed. The food from the on-site restaurant was delicious for both breakfast and dinner. All of the staff were warm and welcoming. On the downside, the air conditioning in the living room portion of the suite did not cool (we reported it, but maintenance was not available). And the next morning, we discovered that the shower was broken. The handle to cut on the shower simply did not work so we were unable to have a shower that morning before traveling.

The only real complaint was that the commode ran constantly and the tank would not fill and thus it was always an issue of the toilet not flushing. A little jiggling and we could get it to work. Not a fan of the walk in shower. Water column was very low and the water did not get very hot which I didn’t enjoy as I like a hot shower. Staff very nice and accommodating; and very professional. Room nice and clean and plenty of towels.

The staff are excellent!!! The hotel just seems to be falling apart in places - especially when you look at window frames and outside the windows. We had some mold on our curtains which makes sense with the AC unit right under. Just kinda damp rooms and unfortunately the shower had no pressure.

It was a good stay, nice staff. Room cleanliness could have been a bit better but still good.

I do have to mention, though, that I would hope the hotel would hire more staff members. It appears that the staff on hand are expected to serve many roles, which causes the service to lag. For instance, when we checked in this last time, there was no one at the reception desk and the housekeeping supervisor partially checked us in after a long wait. I've also noticed the last couple times that we stayed that the restaurant is often lacking advertised entries or beverages. It would be great if that area was well stocked with food items, beverage choices and enough inventory to serve all guests. Still will stay at The Commonwealth though.

Wonderful stay, super-friendly staff and Valet Service! Will stay again!

Friendly staff and nice sized rooms. Surrounding area has construction at the moment so parking a little challenged if you don't use valet.

Parking was awful but otherwise a enjoyable room and quiet

We were in town for a concert around the corner. Perfect spot to walk to the venue.

The staff at this hotel are top notch. They deserve all of the kudos. They truly made us feel like part of the family and also like we were VIPs. On to the room, GORGEOUS! So spacious and cool. Every suite has its own vibe and ours was on point. But let’s get to the star of the show, the bed. I have stayed at thousands of hotels in my life, but the bed in this hotel was like I was sleeping on a cloud. Nothing has topped this. Honestly. I did not want to leave it. Best nights sleep I have had in years. If you are looking for a convenient and elevated hotel experience in downtown Richmond, this is the place. Trust me

It has been 35 years since we last visited this property. My wife and I were excited to be able to visit it again and see all the wonderful upgrades!

Bars on the window. We had a suite but it was very dark. Recommend better warm lighting. Not cold light bulbs. Felt a bit like a corporate dungeon. Was expecting a few more luxurious touches- which would be cheap to implement.

Very comfortable and spacious suite room and good central location.

Historic is one way to describe it... dated another. The rooms are dark, dreary. The property is hard to access due to surrounding construction which furthers the issues. I was invaded by Security as I had just stepped out of the shower and was in the bedroom and I heard the door open. I called out and then frantically threw some clothes on to find a man standing in the door saying "Is the shower leaking as the room downstairs called to say they had a leak". It was 4 in the afternoon. I had just taken a shower and was dressing for the evening. I received NO CALL from the front desk to inquire if I was in the room and had he knocked three times I did not hear him but I did hear the door opening. I was partially naked a man standing there about a leak. I actually went into the bathroom confirmed I had turned off the shower and he said he would come back later. To do what exactly. I hated the room. I had not flooded the bathroom and if it was leaking below it is a plumbing issue that would require a proper investigation. How was that to happen exactly. I went downstairs and there were two folks one who insisted he knocked three times... well if I was still in the shower how would I have heard that? Would he have come in to investigate while I was in the shower? Again no calls to see if I was in there first? It was all too bizarre. Do not recommend the unit. No apologies, No nothing. Horrid service.

The location near Richmond's state buildings is excellent. The size of the room was overwhelming when I first walked into my cozy suite.

Place was immaculately clean, easy to get to staff and the staff was fantastic. We would recommend this hotel to anyone who is planning a visit to Richmond, Virginia.
