The staff were the BEST. So kind, helpful and always engaged with guests. The location is awesome. Will stay again for sure.

My son chose this hotel for us based on the price and location to the train station close to him & everything else. We were in NYC to sightsee and see my son. (he found a great price we got on Hotels.com & compared to other Manhattan hotels it was at a minimum $300-$400 less per night w/ their special). We knew given the price not to expect a ton but we also knew that we were going to be out ALL DAY EVERY DAY while visiting and so a spacious room was not a priority. We stayed in the Tab Hunter room which is a triple. I will say that the beds were VERY comfortable and we slept like champs after walking for 12 hours per day. The free coffee was nice & there was a subway station right out the door. The staff was very nice & helpful. The room had no storage space which we dealt with but the issue I had was that the floors were STICKY and our bedding had a dried blood stain right on the sheets & there was still blue tape on the walls from a previous paint job. I'd go back but I would request the floors to be mopped or wet swiffered at least after every guest & double check the linen.

A decent but not great hotel. Room was apparently a converted railroad flat, so small and narrow with the bed in an awkward place. Morning coffee was horrible. Basically, a bed and a shower.

Being on the first floor it was noisy outside and it took a long time for hot water to become hot. Room was a good size for NY hotel and the back courtyard was cute. GREAT location

Clean and comfortable rooms. Steep stairs, however, and no elevator - the 2nd floor was ok, thankfully, but we would have struggled on the 4th. So it depends what room you get. Cute place overall, 24/7 staff that are helpful and nice. Kitchen and a lovely little garden downstairs. The lock on our door was not in the best shape, thankfully there was a safe. Shower didn't really get hot. Good location though, and on the whole our needs were met. Would probably stay here again if we're around and the price is right.

While Chelsea Pines isn’t a bougie 5 star accommodation, that’s exactly WHY we love it. Over the years, we have booked hotels ranging from $300/night to special moments at $1200/night stays. Chelsea Pines is the ONLY place we’ve ever stayed repeatedly. We stay because it feels low key, like home, needs are met but nothing feels fake or fussy, feels like of being part of the neighborhood. If we need anything, staff is amazing at special accommodations we request when traveling for work (like early check in). This trip, we had a very loud child right above us. Chelsea Pines feels (and was in one of its past lives) more like individual apartments right down to the occasional noisy neighbor. It’s my own issues that I don’t enjoy young children, their noise, and am a light sleeper. I had important meetings and couldn’t imagine being kept awake by the sound of my new neighbor who apparently had no need for sleep EVER. I requested that staff kindly ask that the child be kept quietly caged (kidding!) and they were able to gently request that the kiddo keep the ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ level of raucous to a more Mr Roger’s Neighborhood vibe and all was well. It meant the world to me to not be made to feel like the villain in someone’s “family’s first trip to nyc” story. Most of all, it means the world to have a quirky, down to earth place to call home until we can stay full time in our favorite city. Chelsea Pines helps keep our nyc dream alive.

Old hotel, stayed on 4 th floor, no elevator, too expensive, room was tiny. Whole hotel and our room needs deep clean and some modernization. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Beautiful property and a beautiful area. Staff was great. The only downside is there is no elevator in the five story walk up.

The posters and location are the only good things about thus hotel The hotel was too expensive for the quality. Hotel is not clean enough. The front entrance, back garden, staircases and rooms are run down and dirty.

The staff was very friendly, but the room wasn’t the cleanest.

Very lovely property! We loved the charm and detailed touches with the decor and idyllic backyard space. Room was clean and staff was very helpful.

Overall perfect for what we needed and a great budget friendly alternative :)

Great hotel, clean, albeit old building, however there's history to it. Located really close to all the touristy destinations and theres a subway station right on the end of the block to get to further places. Absolutely no complaints besides a bit of a climb if you happen to get a room on the 4-5th floor due to the place having no elevator. If you're visiting new york though get ready to put your legs to work, that hotel will be a nice warmup for your legs.
